Amen to that. The Pine framing lumber will be used for new construction and the Oak will be used for siding, wall paneling, flooring, and ceilings.

A friend of mine who is in the residential privacy fence business told me this afternoon that they don't expect to be able to get Western Red Cedar for at least another six months if they are lucky. Loggers and mills that are running are running white pine for home building and export. Between covid and the fires the market is very messed up.

I bought 6 each pressure treated 6x6s 8 ft long last week.
Bill was right below 400 bucks with tax.

Lumber prices are up because the wholesale price is up. Supply and demand from a building boom. Here's a chart of a lumber for future delivery. It was $363 per sawn 1000 board feet on May 20th of this year and it's now $762. Do the math and that's where your prices are coming from. People building are chasing the price.

But wait a minute. On the flip side, the landowner selling timber, if he's knowledgeable on prices, is now rolling in clover. Stumpage prices are obviously less than milled lumber but away better than not that long ago.
