I know when i was bush hogging it would drop quite a bit and never seemed like it tried to throttle its self up at all. I just had to drop a gear. Is there a way to test the governer? I am just tryin to pay attention to it as i use it now

I would think it might have opened up the fuel a bit but it still dragged it down. Were you at lower RPMs?

I was at about 2000 rpms and it dropped to around 1750-1800. Today i drove around up the same hill at about 2200rpms and it would drop about the same around to 2000rpms but still no difference in engine tone.

Try this. The next time hold your foot on the gas pedal and make sure not to move you foot. On your Throttle arm there's a Nylon washer that goes bad and wears out. I wondering if the throttle is falling and not holding in place from the load . Keeping it in place with your pedal watch and see if the RPMs. drop or they stay. Then you can rule out the Throttle linkage.

But i think after the hill he is regaining RPMs so that would mean the throttle is not vibrating down like we hav eboth had happen on ours. I think his govenor is messed up personally.
But yes your idea should be tried to rule out a throttle linkage/adjustment problem.

If that is the case then it wouldn't matter whether the governor is working correctly or not. Do you get black smoke or anything when you try to manually throttle up?

You hardly can even notice the governor.. At least that's the way mine is.. It's not like on a lawnmower , tiller, etc

i can tell my govenor works. it cant hold your rpms in thick stuff though but you can tell its there.

Winston you mean that if he uses the foot throttle whats the point that he could just press harder?? Carey point was use your foot to hold steady and see if the Gov picks it up that way just to eliminate the throttle vibrating down.

You probably understood this and just the way i read what you wrote or that he maybe PMd you and i did not get the whole story you responded too?
