Yanmar 2010 can it handle it?

My Ym2000 doesn't smoke much either. Only when I Start it up and when I Bog it down so much it's about to Stall out. Been like that for 8yrs. and almost 500Hrs. by the Tach. Awhile back I put it to work the hardest since I owned it, It smoked and blew out alot of Carbon Bombs when It was Loaded Down and close to stalling. It still starts and runs like it always has. No smoke or oil loss.

Yea there is not really black smoke till you load it down hard. I am not talking about normal bushhogging. Even cutting tall waist deep grass i dont smoke. Its when i am in the wrong gear or its pulling it down to stall i get the smoke. I will smoke if i stomp the throttle down when just driving for a second or two till up to speed.

I too have no oil loss as well.

Git a question about the governer someone brought up. I noticed today that while driving up a 10 ft long hill the tractor kinda acted like it wanted more juice but didnt rev any. Should it? Kinda like a mower revs alittle when u hit a thick part of grass

Doesn't seem to me these grey Yanmar governors are near as sensitive as many of the old gas engine governors. Not being there I can only say if your rpm drop was significant then the governor should have responded.

It was about 200 rpm drop. What do u say is significant?

Just thinking out loud here - These have standard pto rpm about 2200 rpm, and a torque peak at 1800 rpm.

So losing a little rpm when the going gets tough doesn't mean its going to stall, its just going to run a little slower, but with adequate torque to keep moving.

So this 200 rpm drop is harmless.

Makes sense to me but also seems a properly operating governor should respond with a 200rpm loss. Does it respond at any rpm loss? 300? 400?
