Some very useful information guys, Thanks! I may see if I can find a 5' box to borrow before I go out and buy one. If your tractors are struggling with ags, my turf tires would be even worse I bet!

I bought my BB.when I purchased the 2000. I told Steve what my intentions with it was an he without hesitation pulled out a 4ft.. I have huge Luge Rice Patty rear tires. There so deep I just relined them not long ago and I'll most likely never wear them out!! I BB. my Crush and Run Gravel Dr. and can still get stuck rather easily if get to deep. And I believe your going to have a rough time getting any traction with the turfs. Even with my High Lug Rears I still won't put a loader on it. Just have a Rear Scoop that has worked really well. I have access to a 55hp JD. with a quick connect FEL. if I need to bring to this property but so far haven't had to. It does a lot of mowing and that bucket stays off. I can't remember the last time I had to put it back on. I also use a Woods/Frontier 5Ft. FM. mower. It's BA. and cuts really nice. I have my 2nd. gear PTO. Staying locked in gear so the 2000 never even gets over 1700rpms... Not even half throttle basically so the fuel usage is ridiculously low..

Sure does sound like 5' will be too much BB! Dirt scoop should be here in a week or so & the mower will be here this week! I plan on updating as I get implements for it. Thanks for the recommendations guys!

Hi WYdirt-

Welcome to the YM240 club. That's a beautiful machine. I'm sure she'll give you many years of good service. I was also concerned about the stability of these machines on even slight slopes. I used windshield washer fluid as ballast in the tires. Where I am -20F fluid was good enough to prevent it from ever freezing. I think I paid about $1.50/gal and used about 60 gals total (in my ag tires). It made a world of difference. She feels planted on the ground now. Wider would still be nice, but this was a pretty easy and inexpensive way to add weight and stability.

I've got a 5' box blade that it handles ok as long as I don't overload it. I used to run a very heavy 5' brush hog but that was really pushing it's limits so I've backed off on using that.

I believe all these models have the thermostat feature (a method for heating the block before starting that uses a small amount of diesel and an electric element to vaporize the fuel). I'm not sure mine works correctly. I find starting below 40F difficult even when I try using that. I don't use mine for snow removal, but I do have a block heater that makes cold starting MUCH easier. If you'll be using Yoshi for that, and don't have a warm place to keep her, a block heater would be a really nice addition.

Your's is one of the prettiest ones I've seen on here. Certainly much prettier than mine...

I also have windshield washer fluid in my tires and a small amount of water. The Ballest makes it feel more solid but also helps the tractor stay planted and hook up the tires to the ground which helps pulling ground engaging implements.

Nice looking tractor WYdirt. Not trying to hijack your thread, but since overrun clutches have been mentioned, I thought I might ask a question about a YM2000 I recently bought. Does it likely have an internal overrun clutch or should I consider adding one?

You'll have to add an external overrun clutch.

Nope the grey market tractors (with 4 digit model numbers) do not have internal oVerrun clutches. Yes you need to add one if you use things like bushhogs. It can push you through a fence or into a garage if you have it going and try to stop fast. Something with lots of inertia. They were designed to mostly use with tillers in rice fields. And there is not much inertia to overcome in a tiller with the tractor brakes.

Welcome home Inspector!!!

(For the newbies: Inspector507 and a couple more were the founders of this forum long ago).

And a bit of personal news: last time you responded to a post of mine (the mystery item that turned out to be a tile circle cutter) I mentioned that Younger Daughter flew home from NYC to apply for a job in California. She got the job, and we're now in the middle of helping her move to San Francisco. She was away too long, she belongs here where we can see her.

Thanks Cali, been checking in here from time to time. I'm glad the daughter is in California.
