Well I saw no way to tobaggan it back to my shop as I had no idea on how to steer ir in my terrain. That said I used my car hauler and loaded it.

In doing so I realized that the hub/ wheel would turn maybe a half turn, then lock up. I could life the front get past that point and then try and get another half turn out of it. I used the bucket as it skidded real easy on my metal trailer deck. Now I have to get it off and get under it. Hoye says it sounds like something broke in the hub its self. That sounds cheaper than the 4x4 parts.

you can probably seperate the hub from the axle tube enough to see if it moves freely by itself, then see where you have to look to determine the cause and repair

remove tire from the stuck side, remove bolts to tube from knuckle and separate just enough to disengage the front axle...or disengage 4wd as scotty stated to see if it helps...if not remove the hub\knuckle

OK i am late here but i agree i think a gear has broken and wedged into the gears in the hub. The diff is too full. The picture of the rusty hole is for something to screw into not a plug. The plug on the bottom of the hub is to allow that last few ounces to drain out of the hub, but it is open to the differntial so the fluid flows and mixes there when you fill the Diff.

Your problem sounds like it came from "leaving it in 4wd" as it probably put lots of strain on the parts and maybe you got in a bind on hard ground...maybe some pavement when you had a full loader bucket of dirt. I personallly would only be in 4wd when you absolutly need it. Driving anything 4wd on pavement puts lots of strain on the drive train esp when turning.

Tear that hub down its your only shot. It should not be that hard.

Ok, so here is where I am at. The tractor is in the shop( THANK GOD) I removed the hub (four botls) and dropped it. The gear inside looks ok and it turn fine as there is no pressure on it. However when rotating it, there is a slight sound thats different on one point of the rotation and its the same each time. I dont want to say grinding sound as it rotates easily but its definitely different and you can feel the difference ever so slightly. Im just wondering if that gets worse under pressure.

you have broken gear or bits lodging between them from your description. if its just one side i would bet its in the hub as they said

Winston the numbers you are giving me are not jiving with the on line manual I have to try and match them up. I think I know which one is the 4x4 lever as its really the only one left. is push in or out engaged?

Sorry about that, I am looking at a paper copy of a 2210BD and you are looking at a 2210D.
