a local dealer has for sale 5 foot yanmar tillers. They looked to be refurbished with new blades. He gets $725 for them. He said I may need a longer drive shaft. Theres no slip clutch on this. I didnt see any place for a shear pin either. Are these any good for foodplots gardens and such or were these just good for the rice patties they was made for?
Yanmar tractors also have several pto speeds some much higher than 540. was these tillers designed to work at higher than 540? I've got a kubota L3300 and the soil here is mostly sand with some clay at about 8".

You might want to ask on the Yanmar forum. A lot of people on there have them.

thanks for the info. i'm sure the tiller would work good with a yanmar tractor i was posting here to see if anyone was useing on something other than yanmar and if the 540 pto speed worked ok.thanks for the reply though.

I have a Yanmar tiller but I use it with my Yanmar tractor. I couldn't ask for a better tiller. The tiller will operate at different pto speeds. I use the 540 pto speed for breaking ground and the 770 speed for finishing the seed bed. Any faster speed in this Tenn clay will pulverize the soil and after a hard rain you have concrete. In my opinion he is a little high. In this area 3-pt Yanmar tillers sell in the $400-600 range depending on condition.

Make sure the new tines are Japanese. I bought some "bargain" tines that came from China. The tiller spit them out in pieces the first hard spot.

I've used my Yanmar tiller behind my NH TC18 quite a few times without any problem. I used to run it behind a YM1700 in all PTO speeds. It does work well with 540 though.

I use the yanmar tiller with my 2015 mahindra. It does good job at 540rpm pto speed.

Sounds a bit pricy. I bought a 4-ft Yanmar RS1200 for $300 last year. Blades look OK.

A friend of mine has had one so long and used it so much that he's put 4 sets of tines on the thing. He really likes the tiller. Sorry don't have a clue how much he paid for it.

I have the 1200 also. Got it for ~$400 but had to replace all tines, so ~$600 total. I like Flusher's deal better but I was lucky to get anything around here. I put a clutch on mine and cobbled up new lower 3PH mounts.
