yanmar ym 177 HELP!

Could you post a picture by chance? I have seen a YM173 and it is an oddball but I have never seen a YM177.

Does your engine still have a tag on it... engine number might be something like a 2TR???

Like the the othrs said.. if another yanmar used that engine.. ya might be able to swap a manifold.

Last case would be as you suggested.. machine a new manifold plate, and have custom pipes plumbed.

The tag on the block shows the numbers 2w80 and all of the stampings on the block have the same #'s. I was informed todat by a gentleman from homestead tractors that this tractor was made in the late 60's and there is no parts for it either here or japan!

Yikes... late 60's.. most of our yannies are mid to late 70's and up.

That sounds fairly rare. you may have to find a junked one
( good luck).. or make one...

This was my first tractor purchase but I am sure it will not be my last. I wish I would have researched this alot more but then again hindsight is always 20/20! if I had only knew about this forum before!

Thanks again Dave and to everyone else for your advice I don't think I will be able to find any new parts for this thing unless I can cross reference to a john deere the tag on the side of the engine has 2W80-11172 that is just about any of the #'s I can find. If any one has heard of this engine or has any cross reference #'s for it PLEASE let me know! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Don't know about you but I would take the tractor back to the person you bought it from and demand your money back. This tractor was sold for something that it was not.(for US market)
Good luck trying to find any parts for a 45 year old gray market tractor. not trying to be sarcastic, just realistic.

Sure would like to see pictures of that manifold. Seems to me a good welder/fabricator should be able to fix most anything. Otherwise, I would try to return it, or consider small claims court, especially if you have a witness that it was sold as a made for US tractor.
