What's your strategy when tackling a stump like this? Looks like you've uncovered some pretty substantial roots that might not give up the ghost without a fight. I can guess that patience is important. I was watching a big tracked excavator working on a 3 foot oak stump and it took him some time and that gigantic machine was really dancing around. Hydraulics amaze me.

Yeah, stumps can be really deceiving. This one took me a good half hour to dig out because of the roots coming out sideways. I'm a rookie at working a back hoe and thought "this stump is so small around how hard could it be to dig out". (I just got my groundbrealer a few weeks ago.)
