What I want to know is how do you keep your dozer so clean? I'd hate for you to see pictures up close of my Case tracks...you wouldn't see much yellow but lots of dirt.

I read these pond posts with fascination and admiration. I have a natural slough in the corner of my lower field. It's visible from the house and my garage was built with four picture windows to take it all in. But a slough is not a pond. Ponds and creeks have ambiance and glamour. They sound serenely sexy. But sloughs and ditches? They sound so utilitarium by comparison.

But you guys are inspiring. You make me want to go yank all the fallen limbs out, trim the overhanging limbs, and *** it right up. But trying to turn a slough into a pond?....that's like putting lip stick on a pig.

So you just keep posting and I'll keep reading and enjoying. And I'll be thankful when the water table drops enough to mow the lower bog at the height of summer. But until then the water fowl will just have to enjoy it. And Ill enjoy watching the elk slog right through it.

Keep the pond talk flowing. I can't get enough pond ****.

Slough, you yanks are funny. My wife is from Manitoba, & the first time i rode around the firends & family farms, i commented on how nice it was to have all those ponds. I got a shrug & a "those are just sloughs". I am from Louisiana, a slough to me is a small swamp full of duckweed, stumps, cypress trees & gators, not a pond. I guess when you have thousands of them they become same ole same ole. We are thinking of buying a section up there someday & trust me it will be the lowest slough infested acerage i can find. I sure enjoyed standing in them looking out over the decoys for 2 weeks of duck/goose hunting!
