About the loader sticking out and getting in the way, perhaps doing damage.
It takes some getting used to, but on a lot of them you can raise the bucket high enough when in tight quarters to clear the windshield of many boats on their trailers. Even if you get one that doesn't go that high it will come back and shorten the overall length at full lift.
The bucket is a lot of that extra length and THAT detaches by just rotating a handle, maybe two.
If you see something like "skid steer FEL", "Bobcat", or "quick-attach" that means that it takes buckets that fit almost all skid steer loaders - buckets and other things.
This can be worth something extra down the road - once you discover what else you needed a tractor for (-:
Andy Tatro has a trailer mover skid steer attachment that clips onto one side of a skid steer FEL, provides a 2 inch receiver tube for you to plug a ball mount into - $80 according to his web site.

Roxy & Reg- Have y'all got any pics of the items mentioned.? Thanks.!!

.. I can't say for certain, But since what I have is a pretty dinky little job for a tractor, mebbe one of those dinky little grey market jobs'd do the trick.. It ain't like it'd be used hard or very often.. 'Might be a good way to try this out to see if it's something useful.. Seems like the cat that had the grey's was selling units with FEL for $5Kish asking.. I still hafta wonder what kindof grief could come of it.. Do they use "standard" attachments.? Seems there's always a price to be paid..:cool: d:^) Schneeky..

FYI, they have a 3-point attachment that extends a lift bar out about 6 ft. A class 1 3pt has a range of motion of about 4 ft at that distance, and could be used for lifting stuff(outboards).

Check out tractor supply company's website. They are less than 200.

My tractor is a Yanmar YM1510D. It has a 3PH that takes standard Cat 1 implements. I have a 5' finish mower, a 42" brush mower, a 4' box blade, 5' rear blade and a post hole digger. No problems handling any of those implements. It has 15 PTO hp and about 18-19 engine hp. It does quite a bit more work than I ever would have expected with those numbers! The frame is bigger than a SCUT and everything is cast iron and heavy. These tractors were made to work, that's for sure. It has a powershift transmission, which is considered bullet-proof and very easy to work with a loader. It is also 4wd. I've owned it for 3 years and so far the only problem I've had was a blown o-ring in the bottom of the hydraulic pump. It cost 77 cents to fix:). I've also replaced 2 hydraulic hoses for the loader that were old and blew tiny holes. My tractor would probably have been graded a "B" at import time for having faded paint and some rust. It only has a 3 digit hour meter but probably had close to 1000 hours at that time as most of these greys are under that. In Japan they are used a couple times a year for tilling the rice paddies so they've had an easy life despite their age. Yanmar has been in the diesel business since the get-go. I believe they developed the first diesel engine and are very well known in the marine world. You will also find their engines in the John Deere cuts for close to 30 years and I've even seen them in Bobcats and one Deutz-Allis tractor. I don't question the quality of their tractors one bit. My primary use was a tractor with loader for cleaning my horse stalls and this one fit the bill perfectly. Of course once I had it I found a ton of other uses for it as well, such as mowing, gardening and clearing snow. I have never measured how high the bucket goes and it's a Jap loader so I don't know the specs but it does lift quite high. Mine also digs quite a bit deeper than most as I managed to dig a 2 foot deep hole in my yard in order to get out 2 very large pieces of concrete that were from a foundation I had replaced. The contractor just pushed some of this stuff into my side yard and did a very poor job burying it! I thought I was going after 1 little chunk only to find out there were 2 pieces nearly 4 feet long in there! Ha! Made a heck of big hole getting those completely exposed and questioned whether my tractor had enough oomph to lift those out, especially since it was now facing downhill, but it did fine. I love this tractor!

If you are interested in the names of quality Yanmar dealers let me know and I will send you a PM.

I will try to post a bigger picture of my avatar:

Probably should say my loader is not quick attach and I just leave it on all the time.

Roxnoodle, that is an interesting loader on your Yanmar. Do those extra top linkages articulate the bucket when you raise and lower the boom?

For a pic look here;
http://www.tatrosite.com/TRACTOR_HITCH.html
This puts a 2 inch receiver very close to the front of the tractor, i.e. without most of the added length that the bucket itself takes up.
It DOES mount to one side (or the other) and you need a skid steer standard FEL/bucket attachment.

It is an interesting loader, which can be a positive or a negative depending. It is a Japanese loader so finding info about it has been difficult. Yes, the top linkages control the bucket. What I like about it is the size (42") so it fits in my horse stall doors. I never lift muck buckets anymore and have saved my poor arthritic joints a lot of work. It also has an industrial bucket with teeth and can dig quite a hole (much deeper than most loaders which seem to only be able to dig about 4"; I once dug down 2' with the tractor on the level ground). I have pried good sized saplings out of the ground with it as well. The disadvantage to it is the strange way the Japanese have it plumbed. They added an extra piece where you fill the reservoir and plumbed the return hose directly into that. No matter how slowly I feather the loader down and despite putting restrictors in that hose, I lose at least a drop of hydraulic fluid everytime it returns. When I do a lot of loader work I have oil all over the back of the tractor. I think a diverter valve of some kind could be added to have it return the same place it comes out of the reservoir but I'm not entirely sure how to do that. I have a friend who is a hydraulics specialist for Bobcat who is sure he can do it so it's just a matter of waiting for tractor pulling season to end and I can get him over here. He builds pulling tractors. So, I like the things I can do with this loader compared to a conventional one but I would like my system to be leak free.

A note to anyone considering a grey market after reading this thread: most of the importers find the Japanese plumbing just as confusing as I do and usually don't import their loaders. Most of the good dealers are installing Koyker loaders on their greys. So, don't let my strange loader keep you from considering a grey:eek:. Of course, if you like the loader I do see others every once in awhile and you can probably get one, too! Koyker also makes quality backhoes if you want one of those. I want one, but that's on my wish list (probably after I win the lottery; anyone have winning numbers for Ohio for Saturday???)

Hey Rox.. you don't supose that Rudolf Diesel had anything to do with creating the diesel engine back around 1893 do ya? ;)
