Howdy ya'll!

Got myself a L3010 with 406 (now 415) hours on it last week. Also a box blade and Rhino Boosh Frog. Haven't owned a tractor before, but have done tons of mowing with an old MF in SE OK - rock and bodark stump country - similiar to here in the Texas Hill Country. No bodark here tho - hallelujah!

Great forum!

Welcome to TBN! You will find a lot of great information in this forum. Canyon Lake is pretty country. I grew up just down the road in Round Rock. Again, welcome!

TNX everybody for the kind words. I've been lurking here for a while, and didn't see any reason to register until I got me a Traktor!

Here's some stuff you can do with a used 3010, at least in the first week;

You can level the entrance to the third door on your garage, so you can park your Traktor in there!

This seemed kinda dicey to me - I stuck my magnetic angle finder on the hood, and the slope was originally about 18 degrees. Not sure what this machine tips at (the tires are filled), but I didn't want to find out The Hard Way. Slope is now about 10 degrees.

You can also dig a 60X5 foot ditch, so your sometimes patio/sometimes creekbed doesn't flood so often.

And you can move about 2 tons of rocks to a suitable place in your property.

I wonder what I'll do next week?

That's a good tractor. What size bucket do you have (I know nothing about buckets). I'm thinking of getting one for my L3010 and want to find a suitable size (if there are diff. sizes). Does it handle your bucket well or do you wish you got a bigger/smaller one? Thanks!

Breeze;

That bucket is a 60 inch, which I think is standard on the LA-481 loader. I believe (from readings on TBN) that there's also a 66 inch bucket available.

The loader/bucket seems to fit the tractor well. Last week I moved 28 yards of topsoil for a neighbor, and it worked great.

I've dug out a fair amount of stumps around my property, and for stumps/rocks, I wish the loader had more lift capacity, however, the L3010 is not a piece of heavy earth-moving equipment, so it's probably A Good Thing I can't easily flip the tractor with the loader. I have lifted one of the (filled) back tires off the ground, with the box blade on the tractor, while trying to move a humungous rock in a tight place - couldn't get the rock centered on the bucket.

A friend of mine in East Texas (old-time tractor guy) told me a FEL would turn out to be the most useful tool I would ever own. I'm a believer!
