Yet another nex BX23 owner - but with minor probs

/ Yet another nex BX23 owner - but with minor probs #21
I've just noticed that my BX2230 is also not level. I bought it, used, about a month ago and have not previously had it parked on a level surface where it would be noticeable. Mine is low on the side of the fuel tank which is currently full so I'm thinking that's at least contributing to the lean. I checked the tires (which only have air in them) and adjusted pressures to the max marked on the tires (22 psi in front, 20 psi in rear) to see what happened and that didn't change anything. In the process though, I noticed that the rear tire on the high side is a different brand than the others so I guess it got replaced at some point. It is a Titan while the other three are Grass Master. The tread looks the same as the other rear. But I wonder if being a different brand and probably different age, it might have stiffer sidewalls or slightly different outside diameter.

SpeckuldTrout,
I'd bet you located your problem. To check you could try measuring from your floor to the bottom or top of each rear rim. It's hard to be exact but if it's out far you'll see a difference. I measured mine by placing a framing square perpendicular to the wheel then placing a smaller square on the framing square with the end protruding inside the wheel rim. Then I just slid the smaller square down until it contacted the rim. I did this on both wheels and after I fixed the fluid problem in my one tire and adjusted the air pressure I got the difference down to about 3/16 of an inch. I don't think that is enough to account for my bucket alignment problem but hopefully my dealer will solve the mystery.

Peter,
We're going to be mostly in and around Burlington so I'm sorry but I won't be able to do any mowing for you /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. I get enough of that anyway. Sometimes, when we get as much moisture as we have been lately, the grass becomes a real chore to keep up with. In any case, the BX won't be my primary mower but I figured I might as well get a deck with it so at least I have the option.

Jim,
I see you're from the Green Mountain State too. Beautiful country up there.

Have you ever found out why your BX22 FEL was lower on one side? Mine is that way also. Looks like mine was made that way. Ask my service dept. and they said check tire pressure. Yeah right. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
