While mowing with my 2010 this week, I noticed what appeared to be oil/fluid around the base of the gear shifter, which has always been dry. Any idea what might cause this to happen? Could it be coming from the rubber boot around the base of the shifter?

Check your vent behind the seat between your lift arms first.

It is a metal tube bent like a hook with open end pointing down. Turn it counter clockwise to unscew.

I found the vent and it was stopped up. Thanks for everyone's help. What is it's purpose?

When the tractor heats up the air in the transmission expands.The vent allows it to breathe.
