I dont know where the ice was located. The back wheels would not roll until the tractor had thawed. Thanks, Tom

Just writing out my thoughts on this. Am I understanding correctly that the engine is taking on a load when you let the clutch out? As your manual probably states one of your possibilities is low main relief valve pressure. I think this might be an easy check for you. Those plugs you spoke earlier about are for checking your operating pressure and your lubricating pressure. I cannot tell you which is which but your manual should. I can only tell you the 226 operating pressure should be between 213psi and 227psi. This is with the transmission warm and in any gear. The lubricating pressure should be between 5.4psi and 6psi on the 226. Only reason I state this is you can immediately tell which port you have put the gage on. If those ports are easy access and you have a gage this might be something worth checking. Just a thought. Your repair manual should have the numbers pertinent to your 2210.

Winston. I am following #1 in the attached document. It might be useful for others as well. Tom

The water/ice will be at the bottom of the gear boxes since oil is lighter than water and will lock up/break the gears when frozen.

Usually just cracking the plug the water will come out first if its sat awhile and the plug is dead low point.

I just wanted to let everybody that have helped me with my tractor know that today I finally got it moving. I got it moving by engaging the diffential lock pedal. Because of time restraints, I dont know why yet, but that is what happened. Today I drow the tractro 30ft out of the garage, all gears worked and all power shift positions worked, forward and reverse. Now I have to figure out what is going on and why?

Found this link with a similar problem.

Again THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

You have an axle that is not engaging the side gears in the diff either its broken or has stripped the splines.

I cant tell you why but the is the only logical explanation for locking the diff and it goes. hth

This time drive your tractor and step on the field brakes. Make sure you can operate them independently. Whichever one labors/stalls the engine is the driving wheel. You'll probably have to tear the rear end apart to diagnose it, but you could at least isolate the problem to left or right side.

To those who have a manual, how are the axle shafts retained on these? Do they have C-clips, or are they tapered bearings, or something else?

I replaced the rear axle seals on my 2210 last spring. I not only had to remove the hydraulic lift assembly, but it was necessary to remove the PTO transmission in order to access the interior axle retaining bolts. It was a great educational opportunity to see and appreciate what makes everything move! One of the biggest challenges was to reinstall the two PTO shift linkage pins without dropping them to bottom of the rear end (long surgical forceps were invaluable for this).

Would anyone of you great board members, be able to give me input as how to SAFELY jack up my tractor, if I were to pull the right axle housing off??? Do you need a floor jack or a bottle jack??? What tonage should the jack be rated at??? Stands??? I am inexperienced, but mechanically inclined, and I don't want to get into a situation with the tractor tipping when attempting to pull off the axle cover.. Thank you very much! Tom
