I think the market is fairly flat out here, (Maine) there was no one else in even in remote sight when I just got this tractor. To me, (please correct me if I am wrong) this front (PTO) with any number of belts to belly mower is terribly daunting to me.. as in..

"my gosh would you look at all those belts, and pulley's and tensioners, and then those chains that run up and under to the rear and hook onto... my gosh, they hook onto the 3 Point hitch and so the 3pt hitch must somehow raise up the mower deck... good gracious, that is "adjustment city" under there.

To me, a direct PTO shaft to a brush hog on the 3 pt hitch seems the way to go.

Or am I crazy?

You have a valid point about the complexity of the mower arrangement. Also, if the tractor is to be used for many different uses the mower becomes a nuisance to install/remove. I had a little cub tractor with a belly mower. Just using it for mowing the location of the mower on the tractor just makes it a pleasure to operate. However, taking it off to install plows, etc was a bummer. Bottom line is the mower is a great mower if the tractor is used for mowing only.

Are you going to be mowing yard grass or a pasture. A three point might be what you need but would it be a finish mower or rotary mower?

its pasture basically, so I don't have need for finish mower in any configuration.

So I am looking for 42" or 48" rotary mower.

nice ride, I have a woods mower like your on my Beaver. its a great finishing mower and yes there are infinite adjustments, but its not daunting at all. The worst part of the season change is putting on or removing the front PTO assembly as its just time consuming, pulling off the deck is really easy, it takes me 5 minutes. Just drive over it with the back wheels ( as it states in the manual ). BTW just go to the woods website and fill out the form for the manual, they E-mailed me a free PDF with in 10 minutes of fill out the form. All you need is the model and serial number ( its on the plate that ties the deck to the front assembly ) . there are also a lot of woods dealers out there for parts for that mower. If you really don't want/need it I am sure there will be a line up on here of people wanting to buy it. As for the ag tires 8-16 is a common size and should mount rite up on those rims but I would shop around for an extra set of wheels just to make it a quick swap out depending on our tasks of the day. I want to get a set of turfs as I found that you need to be real smooth on the clutch if you don't want to wreck the grass on take off, specially in reverse. Ag's don't forgive. oh and the guys are right, you stole that thing

Hey thanks, I think I still want to try the Ag tires, it seems I can mount the rears ok but may have to get another diameter for the fronts. Been getting lots of help and advice in the last couple of days from everyone here.

Tractor is still at shop getting serviced etc, can't wait to get it home.

Very exciting

Don't underestimate what you can do with the turf tires. R-1's only become really important in mud. I expect a rototiller gives enough push that tires aren't important. Rotary mower likewise; you should have sufficient traction to take the mower anywhere that is dry enough to mow.

I would try it for a month or two before deciding on ag tires.

That's a great point. I have a hilly, turf and boggy property. I have turfs, loaded with chains on at all times. The ags were too aggressive for my applications

Welcome!
Nice looking tractor and a good price.
In your photo it appears your new tractor has the old 'funnel' style trans. shifter boot. So called because it funnels water into the tranny.
You should get the new style boot that actually keeps the rain out.
I will p.m. you with the part no. and price.

You want to share info ?? I also in need of a boot as the new one only last a few years. :cool2:

You may already know this but in case you don't if you change over to your ag tires make sure you don't change size on four-wheel-drive machines.

Change tire size?

I have read lots about the tire size (dia) for the front tires with 4x4. Is this what you mean?
