I did the search thing here and did not find a lot about the YM186D.
I found one locally that I think I can get for about $4000 with a rear finish mower . Will this model handle a front end loader (with a sub frame)? Are they a good unit or one I may want to stay away from ? Only has 187 hours and is in excellent shape . Has the power shift(?) I think. It is 18 horse 3 cylinder. Should be smoother then the YM155D I had . Anything I may want to look for on this model? There are no leaks at all anywhere. Does this has an internal overrunning clutch? It looks like someone had a snow plow mounted at one time as it has 1 hydraulic control going to quick connect fittings at the front but there is no plow with it (I have one from my 155). It has a block heater and a heater in the hydraulic oil. This thing has really peaked my attention because it has so low hours and is in excellent original condition. Should I stay away or look closer? Don't worry about what I want to use it for as it is mostly a hobby for me . I would brush hog (4' mower) and plow snow.
Would this be a fair price to pay ?

What are you calling really low hours??????

187 actual hours is an exceptional find. Two different sources show the '82 model retailed at $6995 or $7400. One lists the manufacture dates from '80-'86, and the other from '80-'82.

Tractor value guide indicates ('82 "D" model):
Premium: $3339.
Good: $3008.
Fair: $2588.

I would toss those figures unless your a dealer taking one on trade.

I believe Whiskey has one and just tore it down and repainted it. (I think it's a 186?) Nice tractor and a Koyker 110 or similar size should be a fair match for that size tractor.

Regards, Mark

There were some brand new 80's vintage US Yanmars that had been stored in a container that were sold 5-6 years ago in the midwest. If this unit truly has 187 hours on it, it may be one of them. If so, I'd jump on it! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Mark was close, the one I just painted was a YM187 the older brother of the YM186. The two tractors are almost clones, with the YM187 being al little longer in the operators compartment or over all anywho.

Yes, Koyker list one on there web site for the YM186..last time I looked

Does this has an internal overrunning clutch?
Yes.....I hope I'm right on this...mine does

Has the power shift(?) I think.
Perk....nice tranny

Going with what Mark said your price maybe a little on the high side, but price is differant deponding on where your location is.

Overall, nice tractor. I pull a 4' brush cutter behind mine with no problems and a good selection of parts are still available ( I needed some weird little parts for mine and got most of them with no problems)

If this tractor only has a 3 digit hour meter as opposed to a 4 digit meter it could very easily, and probably, have 999 + 187 hours on it in 20+ years of operation. You might want to see if the dealer/owner can authenticate the hours with maintenance records, etc.

Keep in mind that the 186D's hourmeter only goes to 999 hours and then starts over. From what I understand the engines in these machines go 3,000 at least before any attention is required. I owned a 1982(?) YM186D for several years (recently) and if you search on 186D you'll find more information and pictures about that model. My 186D had the factory Yanmar front loader (very capable!) and the factory Yanmar subframe mounted backhoe which was also very capable. The YM186D is a US Market 4wd machine with parts commonly available through local sources. A great machine. Whether its got 187 or 1,187 hours its still a great tractor with lots of options.

Well , I went ahead and bought it . Tried to negotiate price down but was only able to get free delivery and service prior to delivery. They are changing oil/filter , air filter , mower belts and sharpening the blades. After looking this over real close , I'm sure it is original hours as there is still lots of paint on the pedals . Excellent condition .This is not one of the new ones in crates someone here had mentioned as it has the original dealers decal on it where it was purchased in the 80's. They will deliver in the next day or two . I have ordered a supply of oil and fuel filters from Hoye for future maintenance . I will post a photo or 2 over the weekend .If anyone is interested in the 60" rear discharge finish mower , let me know as I really don't need it . It is a factory Yanmar finish mower in really great shape.
I did not find a front end loader listed in the Koyker listing . Anyone know of a manufacturer/dealer who can give me a price quote for a new loader for this model?
Thanks for all the responses. I feel I got a fair deal on a great tractor.

Hummm....I'm confused here a little. One of the following loader companys used to list the YM186 on there site and I could have swarn it was Koyker.

I remember this and used to have the site saved on my favorites being the YM186 & YM187 are so close.

Now I just went to Koyker, Bushog & Great bend and the only company that has a list on there site is Koyker and I didn't see it listed...I'm thinging it was either Koyker or Great Bend. But Great Bend's site no longer has a list of tractors they fit......If a loader is what you want give them a call.....

Anywho, I think ya did good, and now own a great little tractor and I don't have a hard time beliving it only has 187 hours on it (is on the very low side)....Mine still only has 350 hours on it and I think it's and 1984, the fellow who traded it in before I bought it (talked to him on the phone before I bought it from the dealer) said he would put on his fishin' hat and stuff a cigar in his pie hole and mow his yard once a week with it and then when older he payed a yard crew to take care of it for him and the tractor sat in his garage for years and that only added up to 200 something hours when I bought it.

If there is anything from the manuels I have you would like to see (keep in mind mine is a 187) let me know and I can copy and fax to ya, manuels can still be had for the little beast too.
