tpthibodaux,
Welcome!
Everybody starts here asking the same beginner questions so a search through past Yanmar forum posts will find the technical answers you need. There are some experienced owners, and a couple of dealers, who consistently provide excellent advice.
My YM240 is the US version of your YM2000. You can see an original dealer brochure for it in my sig photos, for a general description of what you have.
There's a chart maintained by some dealers that shows YM2000's were made for a few years ending 1977. I found there was an early version with headlights external on the sides of the radiator, about 1970 to 1975, then the 'standard' ones with headlights in the grille from 75 to 77. That first series was green and the second series red. The US YM240 Yanmars remained green for second series and were sold through at least 1981.
I bought gauges then decided the lights were more useful so never installed them. Every time I have seen the temp light was unexpected, indicating the radiator was choked with chaff from mowing. Since I wasn't pushing the tractor hard I would not have been monitoring a temp gauge closely under those conditions. The more I use my tractor the more I learn that Yanmar got it right and there isn't really anything to improve. Just test the temp light occasionally by grounding the connector at the sender.
One custom here is to get a digital camera and post pictures of what you use the tractor for. Usually they should be Attachments so that huge photos don't make dialup users wait forever for a thread to load, but once in a while the subject justifies big pictures right in the text.
Here is a recent thread where I posted pictures of my Yanmar adventures (scroll down).
Please post some pix of your new toy!
