I think some of you need to read back further in this thread. The issue is the bull and pinion gear that he is changing. Not saying he doesn't need to work on the brakes but the housing has to come out to remove the pinion gear.
Yea I know, I was just making a comment on what I saw. You are correct though.

Back at it again. Any ideas how to get these roll pins out? Driving them into the housing only bottoms it out on the gear, not freeing it... I already tried that. First, second and last picture are pins before driving center pin inward. In the third picture you can see it bottoms out on the gear before it’s free.

It looks like you can fit a screwdriver in there and pry it back toward you, then grab what protrudes with okyers to pull it out.

Is this out on the bench or in the tractor. Not seeing what's around it though I have no idea if this will work?

This is off the tractor.

Cut the pin with a Dremel cutoff tool, drive out, replace pin.

Best idea so far!

You might want to mailorder Metric rollpins today to have them soon. Ebay '2 day shipping' or something. I never did find a local source when I needed one.

Also - I don't know if it applies here but in some applications a second small rollpin is driven into the first one to expand it. Possibly that could be the case here.

That is definitely the case here. Small pin inside the larger pin. I too thought dremel the pin off and drive it out some more until it's out. I'm not certain that I will be able to access the small awkward space with a dremel, but I'll give it a go.

Is that really the way Yanmar designed it to come out? Engineers probably figured they'd be dead and gone by the time that service came around. Someone else's problem by then I guess.

Anyone know where I can source a new oil seal that prevents the oil going into the brakes? I can't tell if it's just an O-ring or an actual oil seal? Hoye & Southern Tractor don't list it on their website.

Hoye has them. I got mine there. I have a post about it.

If you can not destroy it you can match it up locally. Oil seals are oil seals if dimensions and materials are like

I saw it in one of your pics here. It's a seal, it looks like a seal. Look inside the area around the shaft where you mount the brake drum. You can see it in that pic. It's on the outside. You were looking right at it after you took the brake drum off.

Did you receive just that gear when you bought the bull gear? Maybe ask the seller who disassembled his transmission before he mailed the gear. Or if he shipped you the entire assembly, just put that in.
