YM336D spindle collar repair

Maybe I am missing something here, but normally isn't the housing installed before the collar and seal, (or never removed)? I have never heard of this problem. The only thing that should fit over the collar is the flexible part of the seal itself.

Normally, I don't they don't have a collar.(my 3110D don't) The collar must be some type of repair part. The seal goes into the gear case housing. I have replaced my seals a couple of times. I guess mud , etc, gets in that area and screws up the seal,,,& the seals start to seep a little oil. I had to remove the gears to get the seal installed

Yes, the collar is normally a repair part to repair a groove worn in the shaft. Are you familiar with "Speedi-sleeve"? Either use a sleeve/collar or install the seal slightly further in or out from the groove.

That's correct but the teardown is not that complicated. Be sure you tear it down completely before you order parts. Tear down is about 45 min. to an hour per side.

Only problem the seal is, it goes into a seated area in the gear case. there's no way to install it farther in or out of a grove. It goes into a milled out area in the gear case for the steel part of the seal to sit on. You have to split the gear / hub case and remove the gears to get the seal into place. I don't know if speedi sleeve would work or not.. Never heard of it. If the spindle ?? the machined part that fits into the gear case housing seal is worn just a little it will weep oil. the speedi sleeve would have to be very thin on the outside to fit into the seal

The one picture above is after the repair sleeve is installed. The sleeve increased the spindle housing from 60mm to 64mm. This is why the the gear housing opening has to be bored out a little.

that's the same issue I had when doing the identical repair. I did reem one side to fit the collar, the other was able to seal . There are many seal options, this discovered after much research, glad its going well for you R Barger

its the housing that's too small, the seal fits either way its the speedi sleeve, that once installed, makes the spindle not fit in the housing. All the seals are the same outside dia. just the inside is available in many size options

I'm having a hard time believing that Hoye would sell a repair part that required machine shop work without mentioning it:confused:.
