I wonder if this is a selling point for hiring new employees. " You never have to pay admission for the fair rides"

It would be great to have a job like that. Who would want to hide from the bosss.

I just saw yesterday where at a 6 flags some kid went to get his hat that felll off during a ride and was decapitated.

This is a terrible tragedy but a 17 year old ought to have enough sense to ask an employee to retrieve his hat rather than climb two 6 foot fences to get into a dangerous area. :(

Glad he didn't get his head crushed bouncing off the floor.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I have to assume whoever was running the robot arm must have thousands of hours of practice running that machine. With the apparent power of that arm, I'm certain it could just crush someone into the floor. By watching the video, I'd rate it a "10" on the fun category but have to also rate it a "10" in the being dangerous category as well.

*edit*

Or, on second thought, I wonder if they didn't make a 'recording' or such of the ride that was made without anyone in the chair and it's just run by a computer following that pattern? Still, at one point the guy's hair appears to actually drag the floor. If he were 6" taller...

That appears to be a Fanuc robot, I used to program them. They aren't "run" by an individual. A path is "taught" and the robot stores coordinates to remember the path. It will run the same path everytime, usually to within a few thousandths of an inch.

It does to appear to be a an extremely powerful one though. Most of the ones I worked with had a max load of 300 lbs or so and that was at only an couple of inches from the wrist's axis of revolution and speeds less than 1500 mm/inch (slow). A man the size of that guy whipping around and changing directions so quickly is exerting a tremendous amount of force on the drive line of that go-bot!!!

Cool video though.
