Fact: Albany waterfront experiences tides.
Living further "upstate" near the Hudson River where it rolls out of the Adirondack Mountains and there's waterfalls and stuff, it's very weird to be near Albany and see the same Hudson River flowing north back towards those mountains!

p.s. I live at about 550' elev. above sea level, in the Lake Champlain drainage basin (the temporary forgotten Great Lake :() .
Yep, the Hudson only drops about 5 feet from the federal dam to the battery.

If I lived in the FL Keys the highest I could be is 8 feet above sea level.
Since I live in SoCal I am at 2000 feet and if I am on the upper Patio, I would be at 2010 feet. Get a little snow, melts soon after it hit the ground but... I Have Seen Snow In SoCal Wine Country.

Anyone that lives along the coastal shores is not going to be much higher than sea level...I have property on the west coast of FL that is only about 8'...most topos of many coastal regions will show a series of ascending ridges or terraces that parallel the modern day shore

I looked at sites along the coast of the Keys before I found out two things..., one that the highest point on the Keys is 8 feet above sea level AND the HUMIDITY... did I say humidity... you can cut the air with a knife even in the evening. I was amazed by how hot and sticky it was at night. I spent two, two week trips to the Keys before I gave up on living there. Moved to SoCal.

I was minus 6 feet in New Orleans after Katrina. That is how deep the water was in my den. I have since moved to much higher ground.

About 910 feet here and our water flows to the Mississippi.

I just drove from Lincolnton to New Bern this afternoon. My Garmin displays the elevation which isn’t terribly accurate, but it’s better than a stick in the eye. I thought to look at it a little east of Kinston. The display stayed between 52 and about 31 every time I glanced at it. Kinston is probably 60 miles from the coast.
