1250' at my house and 246' at my cottage on Lake Ontario
404 feet.
Maybe your "location" should say "downstate".![]()
Downstate ? I'm close to Albany.
Oh Wow, I never thought about you being that low.![]()
Yep, the Hudson only drops about 5 feet from the federal dam to the battery.Fact: Albany waterfront experiences tides.
Living further "upstate" near the Hudson River where it rolls out of the Adirondack Mountains and there's waterfalls and stuff, it's very weird to be near Albany and see the same Hudson River flowing north back towards those mountains!
p.s. I live at about 550' elev. above sea level, in the Lake Champlain drainage basin (the temporary forgotten Great Lake) .
If I lived in the FL Keys the highest I could be is 8 feet above sea level.
Since I live in SoCal I am at 2000 feet and if I am on the upper Patio, I would be at 2010 feet. Get a little snow, melts soon after it hit the ground but... I Have Seen Snow In SoCal Wine Country.
Anyone that lives along the coastal shores is not going to be much higher than sea level...I have property on the west coast of FL that is only about 8'...most topos of many coastal regions will show a series of ascending ridges or terraces that parallel the modern day shore
