I have a Noble 22 pump action...probably about a late 50's vintage. AT about age 12-14 I had a choice...one week at summer camp OR the 22...not much choice. I do like the pump action. Also have a Ruger stainless single action and a youth model single shot I got for ease of teaching the grandkids when they were too little to support the Noble pump. Mostly use to thin out the red squirrel population.

I am planning on creating a firing range for the grand kids at our 40 acre property...mostly line up a back drop and firing line...and then continue to work with them on gun safety issues.

Always wanted a 22 lever action...may have to look for one of the Winchester Model 94 copies or maybe the one you guys are speaking so positively about.

Thanks...TMR

I have read that the Winchester 94 is now out of production (?) and that if you want one....you need to find used.....or hurry up and find new-old stock. The prices on these have gone up recently. I believe the Browning is still available....but many folks like the Winny better.

(I am not certain if its ALL 94's or just the 22 mags - which is a model I was considering )

While I have never owned a Win lever 22 in order to compare.....I really like these Marlin 39 variations I have bought. Very satisfying little guns to own. Now, however, Remington has bought Marlin....and is making changes to its production. Many folks want the "old" Marlins (before Marlington)....which is driving prices up.

Warning: These lever-guns are addicting. Kinda like old-time assault rifles. You can really rattle the ammo though em.

10/22, Butler Creek fluted bull barrel, hogue stock, NcStar military style illuminated scope.

I want a MK III so bad I can taste it, but the conversation last Sunday went along the lines of, so you will then lay that one alongside the others you are not shooting.............................. I have been married too long ;)

But she is going on a trip soon, so the voice of reason won't be in the shop with me, and the voice of 14 year old son will say something like, that would be cool dad,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :D

I have both the 10/22 and the mark II. The 10/22 is stainless with the Manlicher laminated stock. I would not put the 10/22 against any other 22 in an accuracy contest. But the mark II( compwalnut grips, slabside, stainless 6" barrel)will shoot as good as you can. I have it fitted with a reflex red dot scope (propoint) it's been my go to pistol for 15 years.

I believe the 1894 is discontinued period. Could be wrong of course. I had been thinking of selling mine in 30-30 but decided to hold onto it. May never actually be worth something but it was made by Winchester and it's mine.

My favorite .22 rifle would be the only one I own and my very first gun back in something like 1981 - Ruger 10/22. Recently while doing some work at my parent's place, I happened across the original box for the rifle. :)

I've added a bull barrel and an "ok" scope. It's not bad at 50 yards, haven't tried it out to 100.

I bought my first .22, a BRNO bolt action, in 1957 or 1958. The Model 1 in this link looks identical (but in worse shape) than mine:

BRNO Model 1 .22LR S/N BR59245 - BRNO Rifles

A real quality rifle.

It was stolen from the Glenboro Manitoba Hydro office in 1965.

My favorite .22 rimfire target rifle is the Ruger 77/22VBZ (varmint/target model). Shoots one-hole groups with good ammo.

But, the rifle that I shoot the most is a Ruger 10/22. Almost as accurate, and a lot more fun. :D

When it comes to pistols, I'm with RobertBrown. The Ruger Mk II KMK678GC Competition Target model (aka: Slabsides) with a red dot sight.
Looks like this, but with the target grips: Ruger Mark II Target .22 with Millett scope 22 : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com
But, again, for the pure fun of it, the Ruger Charger is just a hoot.

In case you haven't noticed, I'm partial to Rugers. ;)

This is the most accurate .22 caliber I have ever owned. Mine is one of the original Model 82's from Clackamas, Oregon. Not my gun in this picture but my gun is identical right down to the Leupold 2x7 rim fire scope, Warne scope rings, and quick detach sling swivels. I bought this gun the same year Ruger introduced the M77/22 rifle in 1983. The Kimber was priced $50.00 higher than the new Ruger M77/22 in 1983.

My favorite target rifle was my Anschütz M1407. I got it when I was a competitive collegiate shooter in the early '80s from the coach on the Air Force Academy rifle team. That rifle was tuned and tweaked -- ideal for 3-position shooting. I still take it out back to our little firing range, and it's pretty amazing where I can put a bullet with the peep-hole aperture sight.

I started target shooting in high-school with an Anschütz model 64 -- still have that one too.

My Dad did well on the high school shooting team back in the late 1950's. You sure dont here of that any more...

I like aperture sights best :D

The Anschutz rifles are good shooters, no question. I've got a Savage/Anschutz heavy barreled sporter set up for .22 silhouette shooting, which I haven't done in years.

The go-to .22 rifle these days is a Vostok bolt repeater with a Bushnell scope. Nice little gun, as accurate as anything else I have. The action cocks on the closing stroke, a la Lee Enfield .303 actions. I'm not overly fond of that aspect of it, but the gun is purely functional. Like a lot of stuff out of the old USSR, it's not pretty but effective.
