It sounded like a war zone all night... never ending volleys of gunfire...

Wait... just heard a couple shots.

Since the outlawed fireworks celebrating by shooting off a clip into the air has become very popular.

I remember helping friends put on new roofs and finding bullets embedded in the comp shingles...

When the power is out... the utility may decide now is not a good time to make repairs and come back another time.

Shooting in the air is very popular in the maghreb region, but I didn't know it had cross the ocean...... Not a good idea...... I think good ole firework make as much noise and are a lot more fun then shooting in the air....

Now generator wise, this 2 days outage should kick my rear end to finish my back up setup eventually. I have run a extra 4AWG 4C to the garage for a generator male wall plug tied to an interlock kit at home..... I guess I'll be ordering what is missing to finish the job....

The only thing we were really missing was water . I need to either switch my well pump from 220 to 120 and see if my champion will run it. But I want to see if I can run a electrical wire and a 1/2 pex feom the house to the well (there is a 4in pvc pipe from the house to the well, maybe I will be able to fiah this thru). If I can I would just put a good sureflow 12v rv pump. I have a surface well so I should have any head pressur from a cheap rv pump to get some water to the house.

And I did bought a use 2000w pure sine wave UPS with dead battery, but it´s running on 72V DC so I qould need a few good bayteries to use this.......

Ah well..... Moving some old items back to the top of my never ending building a house to do list........

The good thin is the power was out.... And back while I was home...... I had just enough time to do sone laundry.... I am sitting in Montreal airport right now in transit to a 6 weeks assignement near Calgary.... ( i just realize I will be there during the Stampede !!! HHIIIIHHHAAAA!!!!!)

Oh and I guess I should ask to the list to teach and show the wife how to use and setup the generator if this happen and I am not at home

I'll often use the term "bulletproof" to describe a really solid technical design.... but, most of the time I don't mean literally !

Like Fi said... we all have those To Do/RoundTuit lists..... sounds like out your way UR you'd need to add Up-Armouring the Generator Shed to that list. :shocked:

Always good to have power back, but esp. when you are about to leave on an extended trip - that was good timing for you Fi.

shoot, here where i live, you dont even recognize gunfire. everyone is always shooting..

Today pulled out the generator , hooked up a light, fan and a AC unit to let it run, but no fan or light ?. Os I check all 3 off house power and they work. Checked outlets on generator with a pocket meter and they showed hot?. So I pull off outlet covers and find 3 loose wires, glad I found this problem now, instead stead off in the dark at 10 below

Good catch. With you on the 10 below issue.

I was doing a max load test on my smaller/older generator, and ended up tripping the breaker on the generator. Turns out the generator has two breakers, with one being mostly hidden from view. Up till then, I thought it only had one breaker.

I'd like to think I'd have figured that out pretty quickly in an emergency, but in bad weather or with a basement flooding at 3am, I prefer to know ahead of time....

There's that military axiom about Training More in Peace, So You Bleed Less in War. Murphy often has other plans, but there is some truth there....

Generator: 7kw Briggs

Activity: Ran 2 work flood lights + angle grinder, and shop vac..

Final Fueling notes: filled w. NonE gas. Stabil 360 Protection and Startron already in fuel can. Gen full tank had previously been treated with Stabil 360.

Maintenance notes (Done, or Required):

Manual start. Full choke used; started second pull. Temperature 19 deg C.
