There's a lot of them. California's a big state and the urban parts are fairly concentrated.

PG&E has a history of using low bid contractors for tree work, who do little actual work because they're lazy and want to have more to bid for for next year. People up here have been begging for more trimming for years. I've seen a change in how the tree trimming is done in the last year. They sent a second crew in the late summer in addition to the usual crew in late spring, and the second crew were from a different, more highly regarded outfit. And they did far more clearing. PG&E is in the middle of a project to put insulated wires on the branch circuits in our area and to underground the main line next year. Seems they're getting the message that they should have gotten 15 or 20 years ago.

Well, better late than never eh ! Here's hoping they keep at it, across the whole State. I've seen a little bit of NorCal, good to hear there are some wild places left .

"It would only run on starter fluid. So I pulled the carb off, and the float and needle were fine. Even the jet was fine, but I cleaned it anyway. The nut that holds the jet on was 100% clogged. Easy fix, but would have been pretty awful in the dark when I needed it."

Train in Peace...... Nice proactive Save Daryl.

I've been OK with Stabil up to 6-8 months, but there are plenty of variables. I use E-free here, and also dose with either Startron or Seafoam here and there.....

Storing wet, I make sure the tank is full (but not overfilled). Some Stabil variants spec two dosage rates. For extended storage, some big box stores and small engine shops stock cans of Efree, often pre-treated with stabilizer.

Good luck in the Carb Wars !

I will find out in about 6 weeks... neighbors have half dozen tagged... I just have on Oak tagged... it does a nice job masking the utility pole and multitude of wires and guy wires...

Oaks are basically sacred in Oakland... Tree City USA but I am sure with all the heat put on PGE slash and burn jobs happen.

I nice green lawn would be awesome... but the $500 a month water bill half the year would not.

Fired up the little Honda 1000i... really a sweet little machine... super quiet and sips fuel... for essentials it does the job... also have the new 2200i which I have seen run big refrigerators and LED and keep the batteries charged...

I'm glad to have them even if no more 59 hour outages... and everyone here did get a $100 electric credit on their bill... totally unexpected....

Got stop by and pick up a bottle of marine stabil and a new fuel can...

So my last run started in failure. This thread made me actually do that.......even though I already knew I should.

It's been sitting for about 16 months (I moved last year, lots of things going on). Was left with some fuel in it, treated with sta-bil. We only get ethanol gas here at the time it was last filled.

It would only run on starter fluid. So I pulled the carb off, and the float and needle were fine. Even the jet was fine, but I cleaned it anyway. The nut that holds the jet on was 100% clogged. Easy fix, but would have been pretty awful in the dark when I needed it.

That reminds me to start mine up this weekend for a maint run. Thought we were going to use it this weekend for a project on a remote part of the farm, but did not. So test run required before it gets really cold out.

Good morning Daryl and welcome.
I sure know where you live, born and raised on Aquetong Road farm just South of New Hope and near Bowman's Tower.
Did you buy your Kubota at the Doylestown store?
They always treated me well, bought a L5740 from then. New owners though.
It was nice to walk into Histands and get greeted with a smile by both Histands.

Glad you got your gen fixed. It's one of those things you really want to depend upon.

Doylestown is a wonderful small county seat. My mother was one of the first lady lawyers there,
I grew up walking around that round courthouse which I know they plan to replace or add to.
More people, more crime. Lot of good restaurants in that area.
I was born in the old Doylestown hospital, now a nursing home, not the new one out of town.

JD dealer closed in Jamison, small tractor place in Pipersville, there a long time, and then you go over to NJ and choices
increase, including another reputable Kubota dealer.

Don't speed on the big road to Flemington. NJ loves its radar.
Have fun tractoring in Bucks county. Drew

Hello Drew, what a small world. Yes I got the new tractor at not-Histands-anymore (Eagle Power). Mostly the same people, but their new parts stocking policies leave a lot to be desired. A deck belt for a mower I bought this year and that you still have two of on the showroom floor is _NOT_ a "special order", and you should just have that.

Love it here, grew up a bit south in Newtown, but also spend 7 years in Greenville, just under 30 minutes away from you. One of my major customers was National Spinning.

And they do indeed love their radar on the way to Flemington - from any way you choose to go from this side of the river.

Well, that should be enough to keep the 30' electrified raptor-fence up 24x7 ! :D

Definitely in the "if you have to ask about the fuel consumption....." ....... category......

I know!

5000 gal underground tank for that monster. Wonder what that 2 stroke sounds like under load

At 16 to 20 gallons per hour even that 5000 gallon tank wouldn't last real long, 250 hours maybe.
But she would sound nice, depending on the rpm needed, 900,1200, 1800 rpm depending on generator head.
Those big DD had their own sound you either loved or hated them.
