They all utilize a carbon vane compressor directly tied to the fan motor and the vanes wear after a while but you can reverse them to restore the air flow.
The one I have, you can throttle up or throttle down the air flow via a red screw knob on the backside of the unit. If I crank it down tight, the heater turns into a blow torch.
