I ALWAYS jump too far, then too far the other way, and figure I would have been farther ahead, just not to touch it. You tube, stops showing video at some point in the FF, so you don't know when to stop.

Something has clearly changed. I am getting really sick and tired of every video asking to press this button or that, like, notify, share, subscribe whatever. Never have, never will. It's even worse than the asking you to complete a survey at the end of your interaction. That seems to have died off a bit, I think.

I subscribe to channels on youtube because: The subject matter is important to my every day life, I like the host of the channel, and I want to support the free enterprise system. For some hosts it is how they make a living - self-employment.

That doesn’t annoy me nearly as much as dragging the videos out unnecessarily long. They must get more money based on view time.

It must still register that I watched the video or shut it off. Does the subscription raise the revenue in itself? Or just causing more people to watch. Three years ago I bought a topcon Level from some place in New Jersey. They won't stop pestering me. I'm not likely to ever buy anything from them again. Stop it already!

I’m guessing watching the whole thing earns them more than just a click but I don’t know. Otherwise they’d probably be taking an hour of something on the end just to get credit for having an hour video watched.

When did you tube start paying people? I thought it was just about someone having something interesting, they wanted to SHARE with the world. Making money at it, makes me question some of the content. I too could pretend to be an expert if it made me money. Some guy I watched alot, complained that Youtube had cut his revenue way back and he switched to Patreon (sp?).

I just appreciate to know what's what.

IT, if one gets enough clicks they can get ads in their most 'liked' and/or subscribed posts, and ad clicks generate fractional $ which can add up over time.

I believe in 'you get what you pay for', so I'm willing to support my faves on 'Patreon' too, just as I appreciate a worthwhile online membership, magazine subscription, or streaming service (eg; Britbox , Ammoguide, LoadData, Prime, ...)

If someone can make a buck puttin' it out there, we can have it. Good news is that because of technology and market competition we've never had it so good, or signed on for so cheap. I'd hate to have been a publisher of hardbound encyclopedias in this day and age ...

In a sense I often miss the old days, not long ago, when many of our lives were dictated by a TV schedule. Now, I'm just aimlessly adrift.

I will hear those words in my head forever from Irv Weinstein, News Anchor, Channel 7, WKBW Buffalo. "It's eleven o-clock, do you know where your children are?" Probably out setting all those fires they reported every single night.
