YT235 down again!

I brought my LX4500 to the dealer once for a warranty repair. The 3-point lift valve stopped working. I dropped it off on a Saturday and picked it up the following Saturday. No drama.

Sorry to hear that,I have owned my YT359C for 2 years now and I've had no problems what so ever, no quality control issues nor any operational issues with my tractor and after owning 3 new pre tier iv Kubotas in the past I had many issues with those tractors. This Yanmar is the best tractor I've ever owned in my life and I'm going on 70 years old and been around tractors and trucks all my life. A friend of mine just bought a YT235 Cab this past summer and last I talked to him like wise he has had no problems with his either. So good luck on your tractor and hopes everything works out for you.

Regards,Bob

They're the things we're use to hearing when talking about Yanmar. It's doesn't seem as though people are having lots of trouble so it's not like Yanmar going to go bankrupt fixing or placing this machine. My goodness just fix it for him. Should not have to keep going back to the dealer for what I consider the same major problem. They're luckily this tractor is still running with all the fuel that's been getting into the oil....

I am glad yours is working for you. My issue is that Yanmar built a lemon when they made mine and they have spent months throwing parts at it without coming to a fix for the problems. I have sent them letters and talked to a representative in Georgia without getting a replacement tractor. I have caught the fuel in the crankcase each time but four times is likely enough to cause premature engine failure. I gave up on the electrical/dash/gauges issue. I simply cannot take a $25,000 loss just for the benifit of the Yanmar corporation. I hope you have continured good luck with your tractor.

How many more months does Yanmar plan on working on the problem? I will be near Adairsville in May for a high school graduation. If this is still going on I will trailer the thing with me and park it Yanmar's driveway with a sign on it. I will let you guess what might be written on the sign.

I don't think you would get away with parking in Yanmar's driveway, but somewhere close by could work.
I had a major issue with Frigidaire over an expensive counter depth SS refrig/freezer.
After many go-arounds I threatened to park it daily, on my trailer, in the lot of the busiest Summertime supermarket in New England.
I was serious about that, but didn't need to actually do it.
Don't know if it made any difference, but shortly thereafter they agreed to a proper fix.

I don't think Yanmar realizes how serious I am. I am not going away. I found large, (2X3') vinyl lemon decals for a start on the sign. There are 11 parades this summer within driving distance from my home if the Georgia trip doesn't get their attention. I am not beyond simply leaving trailerd to my truck and taking it everywhere I go. The trailer seems to be one of it homes anyway.

It hasn't been handled. The tractor is still sitting at the dealership. This is the fourth time it has been in for diesel in the crankcase. It has been back twice for burst hydraulic pipes, (not hoses) along with a host of dash/gauge issues. If you consider Yanmar's piece-meal, "let's try this to see if it works" attempts at repairs a satisfactory approach, then maybe they have done all they are prepared to do. I think I can say that the dealership is beyond frustrated with the Yanmar attempts to correct the issue. They can only do what Yanmar allows under warranty repair.

I think that the dealer has more of an obligation to you than you do, but if you don't feel that way then why not join with the dealer and to file a lemon law claim? The Washington State lemon law goes after the manufacturer rather than the dealer - so that should please you both. And from what I read on line, a lemon law arbitration there is a no-fee arbitration paid for by the State. Having a a dealer and customer both work together would put pressure on Yanmar. It costs you guys nothing.

Agreed. However, at least as I read the state Lemon Law, we have one more hoop to jump through before it can be applied. I do believe the dealership is in agreement with me on the issues, we just have to make sure than I have done everything possible to rectify the problems before I turn to leagal channels. Thanks for the input.

A Yanmar representative was at the dealership yesterday, walked around the tractor, and came to no decisions.

They should've locked him up in the bathroom and held him hostage till he give them an answer.. ;)
No telling how long till they get him back there.!

I lost my sense of humor over this long ago but that is funny. You are right. I think this will continue for some time. Everytime a new corporate guru steps into the picture the process seems to start over and get bogged down in coportate policy and procedures. I have come to the concusion that Yanmar is trying to wait me out with their process. What they don't understand is I am not going away. I simply cannot walk away from the tractor just becuase it is a piece of junk.
