My Zanon mower started leaking gear oil, smelly mess. One of the bolts holding the gear box cover was a little loose, gasket had slipped and tore apart. Used some Permatex gasket maker, will see if it works tomorrow. I was impressed at the size of the gears and shafts inside that unit. The oil was low in the pictures, correct level seems to be just over the bearing journals. So much rain the last week almost need to cut hay in the yard.

Never seen a gear driven mower deck before. Good luck with the leak.

I think the Zanon has counter rotating blades that overlap, kind of meshing with each other so they don't leave an uncut strip down the middle. I think this is why it has such a hefty gear drive, so they don't crash into each other.

Cool pictures, thanks for sharing! Seeing under the cover really helps form an opinion of the deck and the manufacture.
