ZEN-NOH YM1500
Hello, new here and trying to help my son find a muffler and other parts for his ZEN-NOH YM1500 tractor. Are they interchangeable with Kubota tractors?

I owned a 1979 Zen-Noh for years and sold it to my neighbor because he couldn't believe I hadn't killed after working hard for all the years I'd owned it.
It runs to this day but has an easier life now.
Hoye kept that thing in parts for many years.
They're good people up there.
Get the owner's manual from them.
It'll save lots of headaches

Zen noh is the Co OP over there that leases tractors to farmers from what I understand. I am sure this is a yanmar cause many of them had thag name on them, but didn't they have just as many kubotas as well. I guess they just didn't show up here or labeled that?

But even so order a yanmar 1500 muffler from Hoye or off ebay

Welcome! As Clemsonfor said, Zen-Noh is an ag co-op so big that they can get Yanmar and Kubota to put Zen-Noh labelling on tractors that are actually Yanmar and Kubota standard models. Aside from labeling and serial # prefixes there aren't any differences.

Only the relabeled Yanmars have come over here for the last 10 years or so. Previous to that, relabeled Kubotas were also imported as gray-market but then Kubota won a lawsuit that ended importation of used Kubotas. There may be a few Zen-Noh Kubotas around but don't confuse those with the Yanmars.

Hoyetractor . com is your friend. And everybody's.

Sometimes mufflers appear on Ebay claimed to fit Yanmar but for those check the dimensions carefully, be sure the offering isn't simply generic that a muffler shop would have to modify to make it fit.

Don't expect Kubota parts to fit Yanmar, they have little in common.

That import ban on Kubotas is probably going on 15 years now. Time flys!

Don't overlook winston1. He no longer owns a Yanmar, but remains here in the forum providing real info from the Yanmar tech manuals whenever needed. My longwinded rants are mostly about day to day operation in contrast to Winston's technically accurate and precise posts, based on his documentation and his extensive experience doing repairs on Yanmars that I would be afraid to tackle alone.

And Clemsonfor works professionally alongside loggers so he sees how workhorse tractors and equipment are really used and maintained, a nice expansion on the Weekend Warrior/hobby farm perspective of most of us here.

I appreciate all the advice I got here when I first bought a hobby-farm tractor. (YM240). At the time I hadn't been on a farm tractor since my teens aside from a couple of weekend rentals long ago, never had to troubleshoot or maintain one. (But had lots of experience doing that with old simple cars back when I was just starting out). Based on encouraging and accurate advice here I soon brought a neglected piece of equipment back into good running condition. I like sharing what I learned - from here, from Yanmar's excellent manuals, and via hands-on.

Winston is the man!! Wouldn't be the same forum without him. Helped me out many times too and I thank you for that!

I just purchased one of these tractors myself. I went to change the oil and cannot seem to find the oil plug. I don't wish to sound like an idiot, but could someone inform me as to where the engine oil drain plug is located on the Zen Noh YM1500D tractor. Thanks!

Thank you! It is in a precarious place, as most are to the side that I have seen.

Another question if I may; two days ago I removed the FEL from this tractor and took it into the shop to change the trans/hydraulic fluid. I removed the tri-plate and cleaned the screen, I drained the oil from the pan, then I replaced the trans/hydraulic oil with the standard JD 303. Everything went as it should, however now my three-point arms won't work. They will not raise or lower. I cannot for the life of me think of what the reason may be.

I took the FEL off because it had a blown a seal in one of the cylinders that was spraying oil and I thought that I would take this opportunity (while the cylinder is in the repair shop) to change out the fluids completely. The FEL and the three-point lift was working just before I took the FEL off. Any thought, ideas, or direction in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know the specifics of your hydraulics but generally the loader is in series ahead of the 3-point. With the loader removed, is there still a path for the fluid to pass unrestricted through the loader valve (or some substitute) and onward to the 3-point?
