AGCO Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)

BATAVIA, Ill. (Aug. 7, 2013) — AGCO, Your Agriculture Company (NYSE:AGCO), a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of agricultural equipment, announces that AGCO Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is now available through AGCO Parts dealers across North America. By purchasing AGCO DEF from their local dealer, customers save time and receive peace-of-mind from knowing the DEF being used in their emissions-compliant diesel vehicles is of the highest quality.

DEF is solution made of synthetic urea and deionized water that is sprayed into the exhaust stream of diesel vehicles to cause a chemical reaction and break down dangerous NOx emissions into harmless nitrogen and water. AGCO Genuine DEF is certified by the American Petroleum Institute (API) to meet ISO 22241 quality compliance standards, ensuring customers receive
DEF of the highest quality.

“By purchasing AGCO Genuine DEF from their local dealer, customers who’ve invested in emissions-compliant tractors, combines and application equipment from AGCO can now rest assured they’re using the highest-quality DEF in their valuable equipment,” says Rupal Patel, product marketing manager with AGCO Parts. “In addition to the DEF being API certified, our dealers follow AGCO’s rigid handling and storage requirements, to maintain the quality of DEF our customers receive.

AGCO and other manufacturers employing efficient, proven selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology to meet EPA emissions compliance require that only ISO-standard-compliant DEF be used within their SCR systems to avoid damage to a vehicle’s exhaust system. Patel points out that it is important for growers to understand that the urea used to make AGCO’s API-certified DEF is industrial in nature and contains no contaminants. Even trace levels of contaminants can take a batch of DEF out of specification, and likely will impact the effectiveness of the vehicle’s SCR system and result in costly repairs. The replacement of a vehicle’s SCR system on average is well over $10,000.

Convenient pickup or delivery

AGCO DEF will be available in 2.5-gallon disposable packages; 55-gallon, 275-gallon and 330-gallon refillable totes; as well as for on-farm bulk storage of 700 gallons or more. These package sizes, along with bulk dispensing, offer convenience and time savings regardless of the size of farming operation.

“The individual package sizes are easy to handle and quick to pick up when a customer is at the dealership stocking up on replacement parts or grabbing repairs,” says Patel. “The individual packages also easily accommodate in-field fueling for operators working a long way from their home base.

“For customers with a large fleet to fuel daily and who also appreciate the cost savings available with bulk on-location storage, dealers also will offer delivery and setup of on-site bulk dispensing systems,” Patel adds.

AGCO Parts dealers offering AGCO DEF will be trained and certified in the proper handing, storage and dispensing of DEF to safeguard against contamination, avoid spillage, and ensure proper installation and use of dispensing pumps. This certification is part of AGCO’s ongoing commitment to superior service and providing top-quality products.
