    Subcompact Ballast Configuration

If you are not handy with building your own - heavyhitch.com sells a suitcase weight holder that is similar in concept to this. I don't usually have problems with clearance out back so I went with the bigtoolrack.com carryall. It also can come with a suitcase weight holder.

I wish I could find my owner's manual for the loader. I know it has the torque specs in it somewhere. Too bad the owners manuals are not in a sticky section of this site. Alternatively you can determine the size and pitch and grade of the bolts. Then it is easy to lookup on the internet. You...

Yeah I may end up replacing the entire tank if the sun has eaten that plastic also. If the tank is still good I will first try to get a cap off Amazon. After all that, I plan to make a cover to keep the sun off.

DIY installation review of a Kioti Rear wiper kit on DK5310SE

I was thinking I need to adjust my rear wiper. After I replaced the rear window it goes farther on the right side of the window than the left. But it may be better that way because I look over my right shoulder most of the time when I look back.

    Washer fluid bottle cap

Has anyone else come up with a better solution for a cap? I went to add washer fluid when I was working on the intermittent wiper project. The factory cap disintegrated when I removed it. I suspect the plastic is not uv resistant.

    Intermittent wiper mod

Next I made temporary connections to the original wiper switch connector block. Turns out that the wiper motors have positive power to them, and when you operate the switch to turn on the wiper, you are connecting the coil of a control relay in the roof of the cab to ground. Same thing is...

    Intermittent wiper mod

Here are the connections that need to be addressed. The high speed connection can be ignored since we don't have two speed motors in the windshield wipers. I made a pigtail of the new connector block and tied pins 1 and 2 together. Then I connected them to a 12 volt power source that I found...

This is what I have so far. The switch will not have the two speeds part function. I think I will just wire the wiper to the "L" contacts, as that feels more ergonomic. Since the tractor already has the relay to power the wiper motor, I think it will work as a single speed system with the...

I have the factory 3rd function on my DK4710SE. If RPMs are high it will sort of operate the grapple while curling. My two complaints are more about the design. First is how the hydraulic system is protected. Second issue is that rather than go to steel tubing across the loader arm, they just...

Thanks for the update. Another idea to consider is look for a good used mini excavator. It would be far more agile than a tractor mounted hoe, but also more money. This idea has a lot of merit if mounting a backhoe will take a lot of tools, skills, and time. It is also much more likely that...

    Backhoe thoughts....

Subframe is good. Just make sure that the subframe and mounting points are better than the KB2485 and KB2475 design. By this, I like how the subframe reaches up toward the front of the tractor to relocate the stress away from the engine to transmission joint. What I think could have been...

    Rookie Grapple Mistake

Another situation where pressure can keep you from making the hydraulic connections is when picking up the grapple after having a different attachment on the loader. My grapple does not have any features to hold it up when I remove it from the loader, so I open it up halfway and set it on the...

Cab Fogging, Did I Find the Solution?

Good to know. I had the windows fog up once. If it happens again I will lift the roof and check the hoses.

Kioti backhoe Subframe and Housing Cracks

Thanks @Boss 302 That looks much stronger than the Kioti backhoe mount. I like how it puts the load out on the axle housing closer to the wheels. That should transmit the loads to the wheels in a much better way.

Kioti backhoe Subframe and Housing Cracks

Yep the subframe looks like it was only designed to hold up the backhoe to the tractor while the tractor is moving. It looks like the outriggers are supposed to do most of the work supporting the backhoe while digging. I try to be aware of when the outriggers are not supporting the backhoe. The...

A really helpful tool these tractors are!

Cleaning up my folks place. Used a Wicked 60 to load: a tank, complete small block Chevy with a Landcruiser transmission and transfer case attached, Landcruiser front axle, bulldozer blade, and culvert into the scrap metal folks truck. Since we didn't have to cut stuff up, the tractor and...

    Dk5310se ballast question

I saw/heard a suggestion recently on I think the "Good Works Tractor" channel (YouTube) where he suggested looking at the manual for a comparable Deere or Kubota model to get an idea of ballast. I just wish I could get a good quality non freezing liquid ballast down here in southern California...

    Kioti DK model Comparisons

I think I get what you are looking for. The best/safest way to look at it is to size the tractor to the logs that you are likely to be wanting to pull, and the terrain on which you plan to pull them. There's probably not many equipment manufacturers that would have any kind of listing for that...

Need more down pressure on my 3PL for a Ripper

Add a few weights. Whatever is handy and easily mounted so it doesn't fall off. Check the top link adjustment to be sure that the ripper tooth is trying to cut down as it is pulled through the soil. Tractor Time With Tim has a few YouTube videos on the subject I think. Dave

    Love At First Sight

I am finally almost done getting the DK4710SE tractor and implements. It's been about a 6 month journey, so it's nice to see/hear about stock on the showroom floors again. I received my Wicked 60 grapple after a 16 week wait just two days ago. Man it works nice. But being able to walk in and...

    Operating the backhoe

I wish that they would come up with a better solution also. When I lean out the back window to see what I'm doing, enough weight comes off the seat to turn the engine off.

    Operating the backhoe

Oh yeah, the rear remote lever should be pulled or pushed until the detent holds the valve open. This is so hydraulic pressure is provided to the backhoe.

Backhoe Draft arm to backhoe swing cylinder interference and review

Thanks, I will give the speed control valve a try. I will also adjust the seat. A thumb could be very handy. I like the hydraulic thumb kit from Michigan Iron. Guess I need to start saving up for a thumb in addition to everything else. I'm also thinking about a narrower bucket. Are there...

Backhoe  Draft arm to backhoe swing cylinder interference and review

Hi all, I have determined that if you leave the draft arms installed when you put your backhoe on the tractor, you may want to check the height of the draft arms before operating the backhoe. This is between a DK4210SE cab and a KB2485 backhoe. It may not be an issue for normal draft arms, but...

Telescoping stabilizers for Kioti CK &DK series

Nice! I ordered my DK4710SEC with the telescopic stabilizers, and I'm glad I did. I have a mix of new and old implements some of which are quick Hitch compatible and some are not. So I find myself dealing with the stabilizers often. Dave

    2007 KIOTI Dk40SE RPMS PROBLEM

Is this right after a cold start that it bogs? If so, there's an rpm limiter in the software that prevents high revs from a cold start. I find that I have to lower the throttle and raise it back up again to get it to rev up even after the engine is off for a while but still warm. Dave

    New Kioti DK4210SECAB

Yes you can run hoses from the back of the tractor remotes to the loader. I bought the third function because I felt that the improvement in ergonomics made it worth the cost. That said, I have yet to try the third function because the Wicked 60 grapple I ordered has not come yet. I do have the...

    RX 7320 3rd function kit

I ordered my tractor with the kit. I think it's a dealership installed option. I have not received my grapple yet so I have not been able to try it out. On my DK4710SE the valve is down low and I am concerned that the hoses are vulnerable. I like how much higher you have mounted the valve on...

    KB2485 hoe

Thanks for the advice. I finally got the KB2485 backhoe. It came with an 18" bucket. The bucket moves a lot of dirt, but now I'm thinking about a very narrow but long bucket with serrated edges like you have there would be more useful. I think that the 18" bucket is not going to perform well...

    Need Advice

I heard that the DPF problems occur when the engine doesn't work very hard. I would seriously consider the larger tractor because of the price difference. DK open cab with Loader control next to seat

    New DK4710SE cab

I agree about the doors. I looked at the NX series and the Yanmar YT347C for the window and door configuration, but I decided I could live with the difference in cost. In the end I probably should have looked more seriously at the NX because I wound up adding most of the options that the NX...

    NX4510 First Oil Change

Wow! I was thinking I would see a situation where the seal on the filter was not lubricated by a very thin film of oil when installed. That causes the seal to glue itself to the engine. I guess they forgot to torque the filter mounting tube, and then over torqued the filter.

    New DK4710SE cab

Yep. About the only fire safe time to mow in a la ninia weather year! We have rabbit brush, buckwheat and other brush that the gophers and rabbits dig up underneath and create a mound of dirt. These mounds get high enough that the mower will hit dirt even on the highest setting. The sparks can...

Try to get at least one axle on a somewhat less tractive surface release the binding. Or, if you have a loader, you can pick up the front axle to release the binding also. Dave
