A commercial truck they do not need anything, it in the federal DOT laws.

A private truck they can still search if they have probable cause to search the inside areas and the Supreme Courts have reaffirmed this. The outside of the truck including the tank do not need a warrant or probable cause. There is no expectation of privacy on the outside of the vehicle

If it’s locked , such as a bed mounted toolbox they would need a warrant. A commercial vehicle locked tank is codified and is a 1000 dollar fine for refusing to allow access. I am not sure about private vehicles
What is the section number you are referring to. I haven’t been able to find it.

Actually they don’t need a warrant or probable cause to search you for tax evasion. And any rights you thought you had are gone the second you put commercial tags on a vehicle. The can search those anywhere for any reason.

With tax evasion I would think the paper trail that you create with your income tax return gives probably cause.

And I'm wondering if Indiana Haymaker was referring to personal use diesel trucks?

What if your paper trail doesn’t indicate evasion?

Then maybe you won't get audited? Personally I believe the income tax is illegal and refers only to corporate profits and not trading services for a salary. But we know the Gestapo IRS has complete authority and immunity to prosecute any US citizen at will.

I usually pay for the audit protection through Turbo tax even though mine is relatively simple.

Isn't that the truth. Up here in the great state of Montana, when a city cop or state trooper pulls you over for speeding and you tell them that you have a revolver on your hip, a machine gun and shotgun behind the seat, and a thousand rounds of ammo on board, they pet your dog, ask you what you do for living, tell you that they also have a Ruger or whatever, as well as an AR15, then tell you to slow down a bit and have a great day.

I've pulled trailers all over Montana and Wyoming, many thousands of miles, and have never been stopped, never been told to get on a scale, never had a load inspected, and never had my fuel checked. Heck, I drove this M1078 back from Seattle with no plates, no registration, no insurance, and red diesel in the 60 gallon tank all while pulling my Jeep behind on a custom tow bar. I passed many cops and was passed by many cops and none of them had the slightest bit of interest in me.

All of this fear-mongering is laughable.

This isn't fear mongering. Just talked to a rancher from Miles City MT and he told me that law enforcement went to the local livestock auction facility and dipped tanks there. Fines were issued. Yes it can happen anywhere!

If law enforcement in MT is that bored they need to come down to the southern border and enforce laws that matter.

Hello everyone, hope your Cornbeef and Cabbage meals went well!

Here's the final answer:
Yes, the red dyed #2 fuel oil is the same as the undyed diesel...... Unless it isn't!

Here in the Socialist State of Connecticut they passed a law a few years back to include bio-diesel in home heating oil :
"requires heating oil sold in the state to be a low-carbon fuel blend with a specified percentage of biodiesel that increases over time, beginning July 1, 2022. The bill sets the minimum amount of biodiesel in heating oil at 5% in 2022 and increases it on a schedule to 50% in 2035."

I wish I could move out of CT ....

So are you willing to put bio in your tank? It's great for lubricity but it's attacked by fungus and bacteria far faster than regular diesel. So it will plug filters up much quicker. You will now have to trust your fuel hauler not to accidentally mix off-road with home-heating.

BTW some seems to be a greenish color instead of red.

I'm buying on-road taxed fuel and saving receipts for the taxes that I will write off next year. And a shot of Prist aviation additive to kill anything and suspend water.

Oh and your off your rocker if you believe that a tail pipe would have any residual dye left after combustion.... Ain't happening!

Later,
Blake

Yes, the underlying fuel is the same basic product, whether it's "on" or "off" road fuel.

But, there are additives that the end seller adds or doesn't add, which can make a difference.

I am fortunate to be relatively close to an independent supplier that most of the farmers use around here for their off road fuel.

This fuel is a "premium" product, compared to gas station fuel. They put in their own additives. And, I don't have to think about things like lubricity, gelling, or biomass.

I save almost .50 a gallon, and get a better product, for my tractor. (y)
