What do you do with your Instant Pot you cant do with a crock pot?

I have the crock pot express crock multi cooker, 8 quart size, I can cook pork chops to fall apart tenderness in 30 minutes using the steam mode. the trick is to use only 1 cup of water, it takes longer if you use more. a beef roast takes 4 hours to make it fork cuttable. it comes with recipes, but there are plenty more on google. search google for "instant pot recipes".. this is a game changing cooker!..

I've debated about getting one - I'm a great fan of crock pots.

We've got three crock pots here at the house and two in the fifth wheel - they get a lot of use depending on the planned meal.

We have had a Instapot for about 3 years now, and it is our go to cooking utensil. I add 1/2 cup water at the most and whatever meat, and vegs. I cook everything for 55 min., and usually eat an hour after that. Only 1 pot to clean, EZ Peazy. :2cents:

Why is everone in such a hurry? We do a roast in a regular Crock Pot about once a month. Having it sit there much of the day, just builds anticipation. Or you taste it and add a bit of this or that. Love it.

Someone would have to prove to me that a vegetable beef soup cooked in 30 minutes would taste as good or better than the same soup that simmered in a crock pot all day.

y wife tried a large roast with her new insta and cooked it for an hour or so or whatever was prescribed and it was nowheres as good as throwing a chunk of meat in the crock-pot at 7 in the morning and letting it cook all day. Much more tender in the crock-pot.

What can you do with you Instant Pot you can't do with a crockpot?
Answer: Prepare and eat any meal in 30 minutes or less.

We have had Instant Pots for 7 years and now we don't know how to cook without them.

We have 2 Instant pots and use both for the same meal quite a few times.
Garlic mash potatoes take 3 minutes (excluding warm - up time). Soups and curries take about 12 minutes and steam greens for 1 minute.

The stainless steel cooking pot is the main reason we chose Instant Pot over the others.

Here is a pic of Doctors being taught nutrition in medical school and are treated with a Instant Pot meal.
The instructor (On the screen behind) is Dr. Klaper so there will be no oils or cholesterol in those meals. (Like ours!)

my roasts take 4 hours in steam mode, because I like the roast to fall apart. beef DOES take a lot longer to cook than other meats..

Our 8 qt has a yogurt mode. I haven't made yogurt, but want to.

I have made ribs, but I didn't add the instant smoke like the recipe called for. Not sure what instant smoke is made of.

To me, it might be impossible to better a rack of pit smoked ribs, maybe the instant smoke could make up the difference.

I do also have 2 old school pressure cookers. I love to cook green beans with new potatoes in those. yum yum.

You can instant pot beans really fast. Like 30+ minutes once up to temp.

Best thing is, you can find a practically unused old style crock pot in the thrift store for ten bucks.

I already gave away all my crockpots. The instant pot also has a slow cook "crock pot function" but we never use it. We do use it to sauté onions, garlic, celery, and peppers without oils - don’t think you can do that with a crockpot.

We've held off buying one even though we use crock pots several times a week. The pressure cooker danger is in the back of our minds, and there are plenty of lawsuits piling up against these manufacturers. I'm sure they are safe if used according to instructions, but there's little room for error. A friend had theirs blow up in their kitchen and it was a mess, as you can imagine. Luckily no one was close to it so no injuries.
