My Red Chinese Tractor

Did a lot of soul searching before buying a Chinese made tractor. The Apollo seemed to be the pick and the responses I received from the dealer were convincing. So far I haven't been disappointed with the machine. Would have liked to see a little more attention to detail in the pre-delivery checks as I found a few loose nuts, bolts and pins. My 454 is a bit lighter than I had expected but it works exceptionally well. Traction is excellent, motor runs smoothly and everything works as it should.
Pros: Price, good dealer backup, comprehensive package.
Cons: 3PL control not user friendly.

All is great thus far. It has loads of power and feels solid. The gearbox makes it hard to select gears at times, which may be due to clutch oil drag. We will try a lighter fluid soon. I have worked it fairly hard at times, it is not a bulldozer, but is fairly close!!!! It is very economical with the 5 liter motor and most work is done at just over an idle, which makes me consider which power take-off speed is more appropriate at times.. When I do want the power, like deep ripping hard ground, it does not hesitate and feels happy to "play rough." The guys at the dealership have been great and this is very much the icing on the cake.
Pros: The base tractor is solid, simple and honest.. great value!!!
Cons: Some of the "finish off plastic bits" are a bit iffy... but it's the same for the well known brands also. some bolts seem a bit soft and cheap, and I am hesitant to tighten as I feel they should be - we will see in time

What A Beauty

I have just given the tractor its 400 hour service and thought I'd write an update. I tend to work my Apollo pretty hard and it's performed really well. It gets used for moving lots of dirt, slashing, fetching (and splitting) firewood, fencing and clearing. When I say lots of dirt has been moved, read it very loudly. I cracked the loader frame just out of warranty and it was repaired by the dealer at no cost. I'm really impressed with the low fuel usage and the serious traction, and by the dealer's support. At 400 hours, I have a couple of minor hydraulic fluid weeps which I do not regard as unreasonable. I'm happy with my little tractor.
