Bobcat CT 122
Model Year: 2010
Before purchasing this tractor, I did as much research as I could on line. I was looking at the Bobcat CT 122 and the Kubota 2320. There wasn't a lot about the CT 122 on line, besides what the company puts out. I also looked at any reviews on the Kioti CK20 since it's the same tractor. I drove both the Bobcat and Kubota first. One big difference was that Bobcat allowed me to go out and play with the tractor first. They gave me the keys, directed me out back and told me to play as long as I wanted. I moved earth, back dragged, and tried it on different hills. With the Kubota I was able to drive it around the parking lot. I found the Bobcat to be built much stronger. The Kubota was faster with a three range hydrostactic transmission rather than a two range the Bobcat has. The Kubota was smoother, but it's bucket was made out of very thin metal. It looked like it would bend easily. The Bobcat was a bigger, heaver, and stronger machine. I have nothing against Kubotas, I own a Kubota L35 and love it. The Bobcat was also $1,200 less. Since having the Bobcat I have only put 8 hours on it, but that's not too bad for a weekend. It pushes and lifts better than I thought it would. It's slower than I had hoped for. Most of what I'm going to be doing with it is plowing snow and grading a road. I'll also use it in and around the barn of our horse farm. The L35 is to large to fit in the barn.
Pros: Price, size, maneuverability, & ruggedness.
Cons: It's slow. It has a hard time going up any size hill in high gear. Fuel efficiency is no where never other 22HP tractors I have owned or driven.
