Dependable Tractor for Over 30 Years
Model Year: 1981
The David Brown/Case line back in this period of manufacturing were some solid tractors. This tractor is originally 40-45 hp from the factory on the PTO. We turned the pump up to about 20% to increase the horse power on the PTO a bit years ago. We've pulled two different round hay balers, a JD belt baler with the closed throat pickup (not an easy pull, especially in heavy and/or damp conditions, including a light dew) and a New Holland bar baler with an open throat pickup. It's done a great job with both of them, as well as our mower conditioner, three pieces of equipment that can put a lesser tractor through the ringer. I wish it had the extra pump on the front end, like the 1390, for the hydraulics but this model just didn't come with the option, like the bigger models.
Pros: Dependable, workhorse.
Cons: Needs extra pump on front for hydraulics.
