Ford 3930 Is big enough to get things done

When we first bought the farm I entertained the idea of getting a small, less expensive tractor. Fortunately, I had neighbors that let me use their John Deere small tractor and a 30 HP Ford. I am so glad I got to use both because it was the everyday tasks of moving hay bales or using the front end loader that made me see that the smaller tractor was not up to the tasks. I also have a fear of turning the tractor over. The wider stance of the Ford felt more secure on sloped terrain, especially when going over limbs or rocks. The 30 HP Kubota caught my attention. However, the additional $20,000 made the Ford look much more attractive. I also purchased a 6-foot bush hog and a front end hay fork. Changing from the FEL to the hay-fork takes at least 30 minutes, so a quick-connect mechanism would be welcomed. I have replaced 4 hydraulic hoses because one blew and rest seemed aged. I am replacing the tubed tires with tubeless soon.

Pros: Heavey enough to not get stuck under a large load
Cons: The new Tractors made by New Holland are not as solid as the old Fords.

Purchased my Ford NH 3930 new in 1996 to be used primarily as a utility tractor to bush hog, till food plots for deer and turkey, broadcast seed & fertilizer. The tractor has served me well. My only regret is that I didn't buy a 4WD version. I've had no mechanical problems except replacing a water pump, have ruined a front and rear tire by rough work. In 2001, I purchased a 1992 model with FEL @1850 hrs (now has 2700 hrs). It has been good too, but had to overhaul the fuel injector and the front steering hydraulic cylinder. Liked my first one so well, I couldn't pass up a good deal (less than buying an FEL for my first one) but miss the shuttle shift on this one.

Pros: Nice weight and size to do most jobs I have. Pulls much better than a similar hp Kubota, I guess because of its additional weight you don't get bumped around plowing, bush hogging, etc. Also love the shuttle shift.
Cons: Seems a little light in the front end under heavy work.

Ford/New Holland 3930

This is my 8th Ford or New Holland tractor that we own and use on the farm. It has FWA and a high lift. Will be using it to handle round bales. What are others' experiences with 3930s?

Pros: Well built.
Cons: Crowded and hard to work on.
