Bad Engine
Model Year: 2004
The original (Honda 24HP) engine lasted 5 years, then shelled a rod. There were 4 other engines in the shop exactly like mine that had been replaced in the last month, according to the mechanic. I made the mistake of replacing the engine with the same type. Cost me $1,800.00. That replacement engine lasted me exactly 5 years, then shelled exactly in the same way. This time I replaced it with a 25 hp Kohler. The Kohler seems much stronger than the Honda. I'm disappointed that Hustler didn't stand behind their engines.
Pros: Heavy durable deck.
Cons: Bad engine choice. Hard to service blades, and grease zerks under deck.
