Wish I Had Known
Model Year: 2006
We purchased the 3520 with the front-end loader and back-hoe attachments new in 2006. We were pleased with the tractor. The back-hoe is inferior to the operation of any mini excavator but you get what you pay for and it met our needs. At around 700 hours, it seemed to be blowing off more black exhaust. We changed the filters and fuel with no effect. By 900 hours, it was obviously getting worse. We suspected injectors, so into the dealer it went. The injectors checked out fine. Off the head went to the machine shop. There was nothing wrong there, no cracks, the valves looked okay, and there were no signs of blowby. The replaced the seals while they had it off and put it back together. It is much improved but still not up to factory specifications. Of course, when we bought it we were told it was one tough little machine and with proper care we would see 5,000 plus hours before it would need any serious repair, and no one stands behind what they build or sell like John Deere and this dealer. So, when a critical engine failure occurs before 1,000 hours, they do stand behind it, as far back as they can with their mouths shut and their hands in their pockets. They gave us a big repair bill and told us, "Good Luck." They may all be bums, but these bums will not be getting any more of my money.
Pros: Easy to operate
Cons: Can have critical engine failure at under 700 hours
