Mahindra 2415G Pinion Bearing Problems
Model Year: 2008
A great little tractor, 'till it breaks down. An obvious design flaw in the rear differential. The same problem just appeared for the third(!!!) time. At about 150 hr. intervals the tractor locks up. Always while in low range. Apparently the pinion bearing gets pushed through the housing which is part of the rear differential case. The first time Mahindra fixed it under warranty at 140 hrs. Then, at 293 hours (153 hrs. later), it reoccurred. Warranty period was up but the wonderful owner of Rogue Valley Tractor in Medford, Oregon ate the costs and repaired it this time with a re-engineered case made of steel instead of aluminum. This was not Mahindra trying to do the right thing; they stonewalled for months. I was optimistic this would solve the issue. Well guess what? At 446 hrs., exactly 153 hrs. after that repair with upgraded parts, the same problem has, like a bad dream, returned once more. Now I am trying to find a repair manual since I don't expect Mahindra to become magnanimous at this point in the game and I can't afford the thousands it will cost me to take it in for repairs. Maybe I can find a machinist that has a problem solving ability to beef up the obvious weak link in the drive train of this tractor.
Pros: Good power, suitable for a tall individual.
Cons: Recurring drivetrain issues, factory rep unresponsive.
