Massey Ferguson 1643 Hydro Review
Model Year: 2013
Only 20 hours so far, but at this point I'm very satisfied with this tractor. It's good looking, ruggedly built, and does what it's supposed to do. Can't really find any faults, but then again, there are only 20 hours on it. I had a MF 1540 Powershuttle a few years ago and I was very happy with that tractor. This new 1643 appears to be an improved model, with slight changes for the better here and there like (maybe) a better seat, better ROPS (no rattling noise like on the 1540), better looks, and (maybe) a better loader. Not sure about the last one, however, as the 1525 loader was more or less the equal of this new DL120. There is a rattle somewhere near the hood at 2,100 rpm. Haven't located it yet. That's about the only thing that's annoying right now about the tractor. If the tractor didn't have to do so much loader work, I'd have gotten another Power shuttle instead of the Hydro, which has to have the revs up high to get the performance it's capable of.
Pros: Refined 1540, good looking tractor that is well-designed and well-built.
Cons: Annoying rattle near the hood at 2,100 rpm, hydro needs high engine revs to achieve performance.
