Mulching with a Walker
Model Year: 2014
I have a two acre country lot. About 1/3 is lawn and 2/3 wild grass and weeds. There are some very steep slopes, over-hanging trees, and road ways. The Walker MB234i has performed like a dream. It has pleanty of horse power. I especially like the floating front mount deck that adjusts to the contour of the terrain. The fact that it lifts up makes it east to power wash after each mowing and to remove the blade for sharpening. It has 27 grease zerks, and one in particular is very hard to grease. It is the back U-Joint zerk. You have to release the suspension spring, which requires considerable strength and may not be possible for many people without using a jack of some type. Then, the deck must be moved forward and the shaft removed. Once greased, the process must be reversed. A very long, complicated, difficult process that must be done every 8 hours of PTO operation. The mower operates wonderfully on steep slopes because of the low center of gravity. It is also very agile and can get into tight places, under fences, and under over-hanging trees. I can do almost all of my mowing around my place without resorting to other mowing machinery. It does a great job mowing and leaves beautiful stripes on the lawn. Since it is a mulching mower and does not have the grass handling system, I can easily switch to mowing around the non-lawn areas without having to mess with collecting grass clippings and disposing of them.
Pros: Well built, front mounted deck is a great feature for mowing and servicing.
Cons: Servicing the rear U-Joint grease zerk every 8 hours is a pain in the neck.
