First I got a Ford 8n - it was just the right tractor

Then I got a Kubota L345 - it was just the right tractor

Next it was a Kubota L4150 - again, just the right tractor

Now it's a Kubota L5450 - its exactly the right tractor too

Yesterday I was looking at a M6040.......

Yep:
Some people never get the wrong tractor!
They just never have enough of the right ones.

Good thing I sold the PowrKraft a few weeks ago or I'd be stuck with 7 tractors.

I started looking for a tractor 3 1/2 years ago and at first was in total and absolute shock from the prices. I went ahead and bought a Honda four-wheeler and used it for two years or so. It did ok pulling a small trailer I welded up for it and plowed snow as well. In the end I got frustrated with the lack of ability, because I simply was asking it to do too much. So. This spring I sold the thing and bought a used B7510. WOW!!! I guess I should have done that in the first place. I could probably use a larger machine but this one does everything
I need to get done. Last week I moved a 2200lbs boat on trailer (about 3k lbs total) and the little bugger pulled it up a hill no problem and backed it into my barn. That is way beyond what I thought I could do with it. I'm not looking to trade or sell just to use it.

As with many others here, I have been more inclined to add rather than trade. When the BCS 830 struggled with a few of its implements, I added a BCS 850 that runs the 38" mower and the chipper-shredder with ease, and they back each other up well on the rest of the implements. When the project list expanded and it reall was time for a tractor with four actual wheels (in order to run blades, backhoe, & bucket work) we (the folks and I) added a Kubota L-39. Since that fortunate time, we haven't needed to do anything that one of those three couldn't tackle with grace and aplomb.

I did the "Trade up Thing" this past July. I guess it was more of a learning experience for me. My BX2230 was my first real tractor. I learned a lot with it. Mowing, brush hogging, FEL work.....the 2230 was a great training tool!

Now with my B3030 I feel "comfortable" in the seat. What a workhorse!

FWIW.....

Ifin I was to get a B series I'd still keep my BX23 cause I can use it for things i couldn't do with the bigger tractor.
I went the other way and added down by getting 2 BX1500s.

I started off first with the zero turns, I need to remember back but I think it was a worn out Cub Cadet Tank first and then the Ferris 1000Z and then a Scag Tiger Cub but all these would do was cut grass and that was fine until I moved and my needs changed. I then purchased a used BX2230 with a grass catcher, 60 mmm only and then purchased a new front blade. Next was a JD 2305 with a MMM, FEL only and I then purchased a grass catcher and front blade but I still did not have a backhoe and it was less to sell and buy new than to buy the backhoe only, so next was what I have now and will most likely have forever and that is my Kubota BX25 that came with a BH, FEL and MMM with R4's. I then purchased yet another front blade and still have plans to purchase a grass catcher and turf tires/wheels. I don't miss stepping my way through all these purchases and sales becasuse it is like Christmas with each now machine and I could not have been able to just purchase the BX from the start either, upgrade after upgrade.

I started out a 1962 IH 424 gas with no power steering. I do a lot of hillside work and have a big yard. I later added a 1972 IH 129 for yard work. Decided to Trade up to 4WD and bought a L4400 HST and a BX1500 for the yard. I like the power steering and 4WD and FEL. Before I purchased I read on TBN and test drove till I found what suits my needs.

Started out with a BX2350 and upgraded to a B2320. Same HP, just needed higher ground clearance and a FEL. I learned a lot from the BX. I think I'm set now for current situation. Who knows what tomorrow holds though?
