HOW HIGH IS DIESEL IN EUROPE

I think last time i payd 1.47 per liter.... According to Google conversion, thats about 8 dollar and 21 cts per gallon.
At the premium locations (along highways) you can pay 5 to 7 cent per liter more...

I dont know exactly what the price is... i rather dont know, to save myself the aggrevation...

Some gas stations used pamphlets with the text "70% of what you pay for your fuel, goes to our government. dont blame us !"

Yes, during the late 80's we (the Dutch) had a pretty much left wing government, which thought that people wouldnt use "soft" drugs like marihuana, when it was legal: the thought was that people would only use it because it was illegal: making it legal, would take away the reason for people to use it. They were partly right, however it had a nasty side effect: making one step into that direction, effected that many kids then also took another step, again into the illegal: using more severe drugs like cocain and XTC...

During that time it was legal to sell it, but not legal to grow it commerically !!
Since 1st of july this year, selling it in the so-called coffee shops, as well as using it on the street is not allowed anymore.

Nowadays people with diseases like Multiple Sclerosis are using it on a medical basis: I think the law still allows us to keep 5 marihuana plants for private consumption. I dont know exactly how much space the law permits, because i'd rather drink Jagermeister than smoke weed

You can just type "5 gallon in liter" into Google, and it converts the units: It even converts money, but this exchange rate information shouldnt be used commercially, they disclaim

5 gallon is 18.92 liter. We used to buy in 60 liter barrels (15.85 gallon) but work safety laws doesnt allow it to be heavier than 25 kilo anymore, since early this year. I think we get 5 gallon jugs too nowadays, though i didnt buy oil lately because my 60 liter barrels are still filled

i think i payd about 300 Euro for the 60 liter barrel of 10w/30 STOU tractor universal gear oil.


Last week i needed a 1 liter bottle of 5w/40 fully synthetic oil to top up my TDI, and i payd 17.50 Euro at the gas station !!!

Im just suprised that a dutchman would drink something from western Germany !

Only kidding of course, I drink it on occassion myself, of course my grand mother immigrated from Esson in the twenties !

These days the kids drop shot glasses of that stuff in mugs of beer and call it a JagerBomb !

WHOOPS !!!

i re-checked that price, and i was wrong. Before the Euro (8 years ago ?) we payd 300 Dutch guilders for 60 liter of 10w/30 and 250 for 15w/40 engine.

I checked the price i was quoted last year, it was 115 Euro (ex VAT) for a drum of 15w/40

.... you could say a slight difference to the 300 Euro i mentioned before...

Back in the late 80s I worked for a European company here in the states. At the time CDs costs $12 to $16. The Europeans would buy up CDs to take home since they cost $20-24. The difference was from taxes.

If one does not believe that taxes really drive up costs in Europe google VAT.

The pump price of fuel in the US has absolutely nothing to do with the pump price of fuel in Europe.

Yes, I have. Given the same cost of raw materials, there's no way you can add the cost of shipping a product to Europe and selling it there versus selling it here with much lower shipping costs, and still make the same profit much less make more profit by shipping it to Europe.

It's hardly news that Chavez, along with other nations, subsidizes the cost of fuel. Nor is it news that Chavez doesn't sell to the US. Big deal. It's moronic to think people in Europe would pay Chavez more than the world price of oil. Just because people don't believe in black helicopters and conspiracy theories doesn't make them cheerleaders.

Yep, the price of UTF in Europe is the proof I need. There are things higher than the price of diesel in Europe.

The state has to generate income to pay for the care for the sick, old or handicapped. The thought is to generate the money to cure lung cancer (smoking related diseases are a substantial part of the cost of public health care) from those who smoke, by means of extra tax on tobacco. That sounds fair enough to me.

the taxes on fuel... well everybody needs fuel, and we're undermining the competitive position of our economy with it. Statistics show that the fuel price has absolutely NO EFFECT on the amount that people drive their cars... But the automobilist is a fancy milking cow of the left wing of our government...

Commonly held misconception. The government taxes to punish its enemies and gives away money (and tax breaks) to its friends. It generates revenue (not income, that's from selling real goods), to sustain itself -- only. Any extra money that is left over is used to buy votes to keep itself in power.
