Any forum showing how to modify an engine hoist?
Not too interested in changing the hydraulic ram but modifying it to fit on a 3 point hitch etc.
Possible use: boom pole, etc.
Moved from AZ to GA on 20 acres and kind of hard to use the hoist in sandy soil and thought modifying it would be interesting and cheaper than pouring concrete.

You didn't mention if you have a front loader, so this might not help. I drilled some holes into the sides of my loader bucket and just bolt the top part of my engine hoist onto my bucket when I need it.

I would weld on tabs with holes and use a slide in pin. Then weld a couple more on the back of the uprights for the top link.

I welded 5/8" cold rolled round bar to part where the casters were and then put on turf tires.

It's especially useful for lifting heavy objects on uneven and rough ground (gravel, sand, pasture, etc.)

The strangest thing I ever lifted was a Holstein steer that died out in a field. I lifted it by the hind legs high enough that it could be pulled into the bed of a pick-up. True story.

hi Super_Chief, here is a pix of my "work in progress - 3 pt field crane". as pictured it is only used for stationary lifts. the pictured casters are to small for dirt use and are removed during hook-up. large swivel wheels will be added to the ends of the "crow feet" so heavy lift objects can be moved. the "crow feet" toe in/out is width adjustable. reinforcing is still being determined from test lifts. so far i've been successfully pulling out 6 too 8 inch tap rooted trees. as you can see i've already bent the lift boom and had too straighten then reinforce.

the "crow feet" are essential for use behind my little YM1600, without them I've lifted all 4 wheels off the ground trying to pull a tree. (shoulda took a pix of it) your tractors weight and lift capacity should tell you if the "crow feet" are needed.

dependent on your desired use will be the amount of modification and reinforcements. for it's rated capacity (or less) just add the biggest/widest casters you can find. add the 3pt hook-ups if desired, a simple tow-bar should be the easiest if the large casters are added. major consideration should be the max intended weight lifted and moved.

oh, the hand operated 8 ton jack is going to be upgraded with tractor supplied hydraulic ram. work-in-progress...
