I've got to change the Hydro, and trans filters . Can I do it without draining the Sudt from the tractor ?

I changed the hydro and trans filters on my L3240HST without draining first. Used less than 1 gallon SUDT to "top off" after change. Tractor was parked on flat surface during filter change.

Just wondering, Why change the filters only?

Because transmission/hydraulic fluid does not become contaminated with combustion by products like engine oil does.

By the way, I bounght a gallon of UDT Monday and it was $22. OUCH

I replaced the filter on my B2320 for the 50 service without draining it. I just took the old one off and put the new one as quickly as possible. I then topped it off. This is how my dealer told me they do it.

The only advice I could offer would be to flip the tractor upside down, change the filters quickly and then right side up the beast.

Nix, what I really wanted to say, on this 'Veterans Day' was to give you a shout-out and say 'thank you' to you and your military family for their service to our Country. ....and thanks to all the military veterans out there for your service to our Country, the good ole USA!

1&2* Not a good way to do the 50 hour service.

I agree Mr Brown unless the owners manual says different. I changed out all my fluids and filters at 50 hours as per the manual and which I thought was the most critical with all the metal shavings in the break in period.

The manual for my 5030 says to change the filters and fluid for the 50 hour service including the front axle fluid. The manual for my 5740 which is a year newer says to change the filters only at 50 hours and leave the front axle fluid until 400 hours.
