1943 2N Cooling Fan Rotation

Should the cooling fan on my 2N be circulating the air flow out the front of the radiator and tractor or pulling the air in through the radiator towards the engine as a regular car fan would do? Mine is pushing the air out the front of the tractor. Comments?

Toad.. would you believe 'pusher fans' were a common item that could be added to a ford tractor???

can get 4 and 6 blade fans....

9n 8600d is a 6 blade pull fan

8n 8600a is a 4 blader

to the original poster... sound slike you got pusher fan.. good for you.. keep it and use it.. or replace with a regular fan and sell it on ebay.

I was hoping that you'd weigh in. I must have the 8n 8600a. I will keep it. Thanks for the advice.

pusher fans rotate the same direction as the regular ones, but the vanes are set the other way. Some think that they prevent chaff from loading up on the radiator fins if you're working where there's a lot of seeds etc. six of one, half dozen of the other

SOUNDGUY , i beleive you as i know you are very expert on these tractors, but my question is why would they want to push air from the engine?

Figure you are the poor guy out riding on the tractor in 105' weather and no shade out plowing all day .. so.. you want that hot air that's cooling the engine on you.. or maybee you want it out the front?

fast forward to winter.. and that hot air off the engine / radiator might feel real good.. that and a heat hauser.. etc..
