Trying to decide if to get the GR2110

1* I looked at the compact series tractors and they just seem to be to big for my needs.
I have a lot of thight areas in my yard like up close to the house and fences as well as trees.
2*I am afraid that if I went with a compact tractor, it would not cut up close to everything as well as the garden tractor woulld.
3*s-cut can also tear up the yard a bit more.
If the grass is wet and soft, it will mark up the yard more.
4*All that traction comes at a price I guess.
Another issue you haven't adressed is saftey.
5*The 4 wheel drive, the ROPS (roll bar), and the saftey belt make me feel a lot better about my 14 year old son mowing my hills.
************************
1*The 2 Sub cut tractors in the foreground are almost the exact same size as the GR2110.
2*I have a Cub Cadet GT2554 garden tractor & I can't mow any closer to things with it than I can with any of these 3 sub compacts.
3*There is no difference between these 3 tractors and my CC garden tractor on this.
4*There is no traction difference between a GR2110 and a sub-compact as both are 4 wheel drive.
5*I go along with you on the (roll bar), and the saftey belt but the GR2110 is 4 wheel drive.

My dealer quoted me $7,200 for the GR2010 (gas) and $7,800 for the GR2110 diesel with the 54" deck. I have called around a few other dealers just to check his price and so far he has been the lowest. From what I had read the GR2110 had the new HST transmission so I thought everything would be alright. I just wanted to check with some of you who are in the know because I just started researching this. I has also read of a problem with the glide steer and something about it not having enough power in reverse. I was hoping that this was on the models before the 2010 and 2110. Can anyone confirm this? How well does the 2110 climb hills with the turf tires? How nice of a cut does it give with the mulch kit option installed? Thanks for the replies:)

The problems with the HST were fixed before the new models came out.I've never heard of any HST problems on any of the Gas models, even the early 05 models. The only Glidesteer issues I've read about is minor adjustments in the field.Mine had that and was easily fixed. The slow rearward speed has been reported by many users.Someone posted doing there own adjusting and made there's go as fast in reverse as it did forward.Apparently the factory sets these up to go slow for some reason.

As far as turf tires,it depends on how steep the hills are.I have 30deg slopes and set mine up with AG tires from the start.I wouldn't trust turfs going downhill at these angles. No fun sliding downhill on a tractor-been there-done that.

I just installed the much kit to do the last mowing/leaf cleanup and it did a great job.I was surprised there was hardly any blowout at all.

I cannot speak to the later GR's, but I ahve a late 05 GR 2100 with about 90 hours on the clock. It has just come back from the shop to have oil leaks in the transmission fixed (twice). It has absolutly NO power in reverse and not overly strong in forward. When cutting transversly along a slope, the cut is horrible. Kubota makes good stuff, but in my opinion they missed the boat on this one. The best thing I can say about it is that the engine runs well and is good on fuel. I hear that later models are better. For your sake, I hope so. Good luck!!!

This info is a bit confusing. I thought that the GR2110 was a depenable tractor that would climb hills good with the all wheel drive. I also was under the impression that the 54 inch deck gave a nice pretty cut even on hills. It is not like my hill is a mountain, it is only really steep in a couple of places. I only cut when it the grass is dry. If the 2110 is not the one maybe I need to check out a John Deere X748, it cost alot more but it would be my second choice. I am trying to figure this out before I buy anything.

It was late and I misread this post. I thought that he was talking about the GR2110:D I really do hope that everything has been worked out on the new model. That is the last thing that I want to do is buy something for over 8k with tax and have leaks and transmission problems. Was 2008 the first year for the 2110 model? Are there others on here who have them? Any problems with the 2110 if so and how nice of a cut does it give? Thanks. Sorry about the misread, I had just got home from work and it was very early in the morning:)

The blade speed is too slow for me. I bought both a 48 and the 54 came with the GR2110 stock and you have to cut and cut again to cut straw grass with brand new kubota blades. The positive thing Kubota engr. is working with me on the problem. look for later posts from Ob1

Have them check your PTO engagement adjustment. My 2110 was doing the same thing - poor cut, deck bogging down in any amount of grass, etc. Dealer came out and made a 10 min adjustment to PTO engagement, now its like a whole new tractor - great cut and unstoppable in any amount of grass.
