Christmas fun

Memories.... on Christmas in 1971, I was most likely spending time with the Air Force nurse I eventually married 4 years later. This was in Japan, in between eavesdropping on the Chinese miltary... My how time flies.

Eddie, the older of those two girls was 6 years old the following month. That was the winter we spent in the Chicago area and we came back to Texas for Christmas at my sister's place in Garland. You can see it was windy, but warm. Then we went back to Des Plaines, IL, to cold weather and lots of snow.

And I was in port in Athens, Greece for a Christmas stand-down. I don't miss that part of the U.S. Navy.

Ain't it the truth!! We now have 3 grandkids and all 3 are 19 years old.

They must have been born the same year my mother died; 1989.
I bought 2 new pick ups in nov and dec of that year.
Just sold one of them a couple months ago .
Still have the 89 Nissan with only around 36000 miles .
It's in mint condition.
My wife was 19 when we got married back in 1964.
1989 was also for me:
20Th year after being discharged from the O N G .and for my wife the 20 anniversary of her mothers passing away due to kidney failure in 1969 at the young age of 55 .
Our 25th wedding anniversary
My 30th High School Class Reunion.
1989 was a rather unusual year for us to say the least.

Well, let's see if I can post a picture of my two little girls on their new roller skates Christmas morning. Of course this was Christmas morning, 1971!

Way back there 37 years ago.
We moved into the new double wide we live in.
We bought and set it up here in 71.
We also bought a new Chevell convertible and a new Ford 3/4 ton pick up with a new slide in camper that year .
The summer of 71 was an expensive busy year for us
That summer My Dad and I also built an 11 x 20 carport to park the new convertible in.

I was six years old on Christmas morning, 1971. Wish I could remember what I got from Santa that year. Guess my memory is failing me.

We also bought a new Chevell convertible and a new Ford 3/4 ton pick up with a new slide in camper that year .

I had just bought our first RV; a 1971 3/4 ton Chevy with a 10.5' slide-in Sandpiper camper the very end of June, then a little over a month and a half later, learned I was being sent to the Northwestern University Traffic Institute for the 1971-72 school year. The first picture is our camper, which I drove pulling a U-Haul trailer, and our 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner, which my wife drove, and this was at Illinois Beach State Park, Zion, IL, where we stayed a few days until we could get an apartment rented. The second picture is that youngest girl behind the camper (the trailer in the background belonged to a New Jersey State Police Sergeant and his family), and the third picture is those two girls of ours in the camper.

Well, let's see if I can post a picture of my two little girls on their new roller skates Christmas morning. Of course this was Christmas morning, 1971!

Hahaha !!! Great pic Bird ! Its funny to look at back at the trends in old pics.... clothes styles,etc. I was also 6 in 71 !

Nice pictures Robert and Eddie! Don't blink or you will miss something and they will grow up quickly!

We had our kids home (still calling them kids, one 29 and two 25) for the day and then last night we all went to see Marley and Me. Wonderful movie and a nice way to finish a great day.

Wayne....... i gotta ask, did you ball your eyes out like a baby at the end?? I was planning on going to see it with my wife but my friend called me today to tell me he saw it with his wife/kids yesterday. He said there wasn't a dry eye in the whole theatre. I'm a real sucker for a good dog...... i may have to wait till its out on DVD to see it.

I went to see M&M on Tuesday, the 30th, with my youngest daughter and family. It proved to be much better than I ever dreamed and I thought they caught the personalities of the people at least as good as the dog. Like everyone in the theater, I also teared up at the end, but I thought they handled the sad part with a unique level of dignity. In the end, I wanted to see a book on the coffee table titled Marley & Me, but that didn't happen. It was sure hinted that it would happen, but it's not in the movie.
